Heartache hits different when you’re Harry Styles, and according to sources, his recent breakup with actress Taylor Russell is a kind of pain he’s never dealt with before.
Adding insult to injury? Russell’s seemingly moved on with A-lister Michael B. Jordan — and despite the fact Styles has dabbled in dating following their split, the singer is reportedly having a tough time with it.
Fans first noticed sparks between Russell and Jordan on March 9 when the pair were spotted together in London. Rumors of romance swirled, and an insider shared that they’ve “been hooking up and having a great time together.” While this new fling might be all warm and fuzzy for Russell, Styles is reportedly struggling with the thought of his ex, who he reportedly was ready to pop the question to, cozying up to someone else. “Harry really hasn’t moved on since their split,” an insider told Life & Style, adding that “Taylor was the one who initiated it, and that has never happened to him before.” Ouch.
For those unfamiliar, Styles’ and Russell’s relationship started with fan speculation back in July 2023 when she attended one of his concerts in Vienna. The next day, they were seen wandering the city together. By August, the former One Direction star publicly supported her at the opening night of her play The Effect in London, and the two spent the better part of a year navigating their romance in the spotlight.
But cracks eventually started to show, with Russell reportedly struggling to adjust to life in London. She reflected on the hardship of love during an interview with The Face last October, describing it as a bittersweet gamble. “The tax on a real relationship is the reality that you will get hurt, you will [have] grief… and that’s OK. It’s worth it.”
Unfortunately for Styles, that grief is hitting hard now. Living in the same city as his ex and her new beau isn’t helping matters. “She’s in London with a new guy, doing all the stuff they used to do together, which makes it even harder,” the source explained. And this “new guy” isn’t just anyone; it’s Michael B. Jordan. “Harry is actually a fan of his work in Black Panther and Creed, so it’s not like he can even say she’s downgraded,” the insider revealed. Talk about a love rival.
To make things even messier? This isn’t the first time Styles and Jordan have competed over a girl. Both were previously connected to Kendall Jenner, though those relationships fizzled out for both stars.
For now, Styles is “definitely feeling the sting.” Sometimes, even global heartthrobs get a taste of heartbreak that’s all too real.
