The actress and writer sparked an angry response when she posted on BlueSky, responding to a Newsweek article that was originally published in February 2024. The article headline read, “Trump Ally Charlie Kirk Suggests Children Should Watch Public Executions.”

Tamblyn shared the post and wrote on it, “Wish granted,” as she referred to unsubstantiated rumors that have circulated claiming Kirk’s wife, Erika, and children were present when he was fatally shot in the neck during an appearance at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10).

The Newsweek article reported on how Kirk had said on his show that executions should be televised so that everyone could see them.

Guests on the episode included Jack Posobiec, Tyler Bowyer, and Blake Neff, with Neff suggesting that children under 12 should be allowed to watch death penalties.

When Kirk asked his guests if crime would rise or fall if executions were public, Bowyer answered, “It would go way down.”

The scathing post from Tamblyn saw users on X lash out at her in disbelief. One wrote, “Amber Tamblyn is a tremendous piece of s**t.” A second shared, “Never heard of her, myself. But I am going to wildly guess that she just assassinated her acting career in public on social media for the world to see.”

A third ranted, “Amber Tamblyn is a disgusting, untalented, monster of a human being. What a pathetic excuse for a grown woman.”

A fourth social media user said, “What an absolute ghoul. Can we stop giving these actors any respect? Why do we care if someone won the genetic lottery and looks good on tape? She is a washed-up nobody trying to be relevant.”

A fifth commented, “There is no room in America for this kind of disgusting rhetoric! Can we make sure this woman regrets the vile words she has spoken?!?”

Meanwhile, Kirk’s wife Erika has spoken out about his death for the first time since the tragedy unfolded. Talking from her late husband’s office, she admitted the murder “ignited” a fire in her, as she pledged to continue his work with Turning Point USA.

She said, “To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won’t, I refuse to let that happen… All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it.”

Kirk was known as a staunch ally of President Donald Trump and a devout Christian. His views often caused controversy as he vocally opposed abortion, was anti-trans-rights, and had made polarizing statements on gun laws, among several other highly debated topics.
