Fitness influencer quits social media over Hulk Hogan controversy: ‘I’m done’
Joey Swoll, the fitness influencer with millions of social media followers, is quitting social media after a controversy around his Hulk Hogan post.
“All the good I’ve done, all the people I’ve helped, all for nothing,” he posted on X. “I truly hope all the people I’ve inspired do great things in their life and pay it forward to help others and carry on my message.
“But no matter how much good you do, people just wait for a reason to hate you and tear you down.”

It all started with an old video he posted of himself as Hogan as a tribute on the day the WWE legend died. It was met with backlash.
“You either die a hero, or live long enough to be the villain,” his continued. “Thank you for your support. I am done.”
Swoll, who has more than eight million followers on TikTok under his “Gym Positivity” brand, posted a video to his fans this week with an apology over the Hogan post.
“A few days ago, I reposted an old video of me in the gym wearing a Hulk Hogan costume on the day he passed.
“Last night in my live stream, a lot of people expressed how upset and frustrated they were with me.
“Instead of listening and understanding like I should have, I became defensive and said that I was posting to celebrate the wrestling icon, the person that so many of us looked up to as kids.
“I didn’t know the extent of all the horrible things that he had done.”
He said since the posting, he did a lot of research on Hogan “and learned all of the horrible things that man has done.
“Which is way more than just making a mistake and being human.”
Swoll took down the video and apologized.
However, things got worse during his live stream when people called Swoll out for using the term “colored.” He apologized and said he should have said “people of color.”
In 2016, a Florida jury awarded Hogan over $115 million against Gawker Media, after Hogan sued them for posting a video of him having sex with his former best friend’s wife. The litigation led to the discovery that Hogan had used racial slurs in 2007 to describe his daughter’s Black ex-boyfriend.
