Lewis Hamilton is set to debut with Ferrari in the 2025 season amidst promising test results. The Briton suffered from a tumultuous pace in his final years with Mercedes. Regardless, Ferrari’s Chassis Technical Director Loic Serra declared that the team wasn’t fazed by Hamilton’s recent woes.

Lewis Hamilton suffered a disappointing campaign in the 2024 season with Mercedes despite scoring two coveted race wins. The Briton was also reportedly outperformed by new teammate Charles Leclerc over during multiple test sessions with Ferrari. Loic Serra still raised confidence in the Briton’s capabilities to succeed with the Italian constructor.

Serra didn’t hesitate to acknowledge that Hamilton’s previous on-track difficulties didn’t scare him. The Frenchman declared that the 40-year-old was an ‘extraordinary’ driver who remained thirsty for new challenges. The 52-year-old further noted that the seven-time champion would be as fast at Ferrari as his best years in the pinnacle of motorsport.

Lewis Hamilton’s long-run pace ‘present’ despite recent struggles

Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the ground-effect era is dissatisfactory, to say the least. Mercedes’ Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin had previously pointed out that Hamilton struggled with the whole generation of cars. Regardless, the Briton had the long-run pace in him and knew how to get great results in any car.

He’s struggled with this whole generation of car, really, not suiting his style. His long run pace is always there. It’s more about how he wants to attack a corner. When he does that, the car jumps into oversteer – and the tyre temperatures go up.
