Erika Kirk bravely held back tears as she made her first public statement since the shocking murder of her husband, Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was tragically shot dead earlier this week while speaking at a university event in Utah.

The 31-year-old was fatally gunned down on stage during what was supposed to be a routine Q&A session. The police later named 22-year-old Tyler Robinson – whose former classmate has provided a description of him – as the suspect. After a 33-hour manhunt, Robinson was convinced to surrender by his father. Charlie leaves behind his wife Erika and their two young children, a son and a daughter. The couple tied the knot in 2021.

Visibly emotional, Erika broke her silence during a live broadcast on Fox News, where she fought to hold back tears as she described the heart-wrenching moment she had to explain Charlie’s absence to their three-year-old daughter, reports the Irish Star. Meanwhile, investigators say the shooting suspect left two disturbing messages on bullet casings.

“What do you tell a three-year-old?” Erika asked. “I said, ‘Baby, Daddy loves you so much, he’s on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.”

The mourning widow accompanied her husband’s casket to Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday aboard Air Force Two, alongside Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance. While full details of the funeral have not been disclosed, it has been confirmed that former President Donald Trump will attend the service.

In a moving tribute, Erika urged Americans to reconnect with God, while also delivering a chilling message to those she blames for her husband’s death.

“You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country. You have no idea the fire you ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around this world like a battle cry,” she proclaimed.

It’s still uncertain who Erika was referring to when she spoke of “evildoers,” as the alleged shooter is already in police custody.

Addressing the followers of her late husband’s organization, Turning Point USA, she issued a call to arms. “You know what to do,” she reiterated several times.

She mentioned a “war” and a “battle” that she believes needs to be fought and encouraged those listening to join a Bible-centered church if they haven’t done so yet.

Kirk was in Utah addressing questions about mass shootings when the deadly attack occurred. During the Q&A, a student reportedly asked him, “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”.

The last words Kirk uttered before he was shot were hauntingly captured as, “Counting or not counting gang violence?” He was quickly taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in critical condition but was declared dead later that afternoon.
