Elon Musk admits the Efficiency Department… is ineffective.

Billionaire Elon Musk admitted that the U.S. Department of Government Performance (DOGE) was only “partially successful” and asserted that he would never return to the agency.

According to The Guardian , billionaire Elon Musk recently admitted in an interview with host Katie Miller that the Department for Government Efficiency achieved only limited results. Furthermore, he will not be taking on a role at the department again. “We were somewhat successful. You could say somewhat successful,” Musk said.

Billionaire Musk also admitted that he “should have focused on running his companies,” instead of leading the Government Efficiency Department.

Musk has faced much criticism for allegedly “undermining” government institutions. He also reflected that things might have turned out differently if he hadn’t taken on this role at the department, and hadn’t expressed such strong political stances.

Musk said, “If I hadn’t worked at the Department of Government Efficiency, I probably would have focused more on my companies. If I had, then the car burning incidents probably wouldn’t have happened.” Musk was referring to the vandalism of Tesla electric vehicles that occurred after he took on the role of head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Nevertheless, Musk insisted he was not discouraged after his time as a “special government employee,” despite the strained relationship and online feuds with President Trump. “From the beginning, I had no illusions about the outcome,” Musk said.

While leading the U.S. Department for Government Efficiency , billionaire Elon Musk drastically cut the number of federal employees. This move occurred during the early stages of U.S. President Donald Trump ‘s second term .

The Department for Government Efficiency has caused significant upheaval within the federal government. As of May, following “purges” conducted by Musk’s team, more than 200,000 federal employees had been laid off, and approximately 75,000 had accepted voluntary severance packages.

Musk’s team has claimed to have saved the US government billions of dollars, but experts say it’s difficult to verify this figure due to a lack of financial information.

Some independent estimates suggest that the actual savings were far lower than what billionaire Musk and his associates claimed. Musk subsequently withdrew from the Department of Government Efficiency, which is also believed to have been quietly dissolved.

Following the shooting at a Tesla dealership in Oregon in March, US police have acknowledged that Tesla dealerships are “being targeted across the country for political reasons.”

Tesla’s stock lost nearly half its value between January and March, the period when the Government Efficiency Department began operations; however, Tesla’s stock price has since gradually recovered.
