Ella Langley Says Her Dad Calls Her About Online Rumors, & About “10% At The Very Most” Are True
Gotta be careful with those Facebook comments, dad.
Ella Langley has had a heck of a year already, and just last week scored her second #1 hit with “Weren’t For the Wind,” following her mega viral hit with Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me.”
Of course, in addition to all of her success with music, Ella has been dealing with rumors about her personal life, which really hit a fever pitch around the time of the ACM Awards in May. Rumors started swirling about what may or may not be going on between Ella, Riley Green and Megan Moroney… a classic love triangle, if you will.
It first started when fans were convinced that Riley and Ella were an item following their aforementioned duet, and many fans thought they at least had some sort of fling or something of that nature. They shut that idea down pretty much from the get go, and Riley has said before that Ella is “too smart” to date him, adding that they knew going into it that the song would cause conversation about their relationship status. They were fully expecting fans to embrace the love story, or the idea of it, the same way they did for legendary country music couples like George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
Ella herself said many times that they were just very good friends, but it still wasn’t enough to convince the world that they were not together, and rumors continued for months about the two of them, until Megan got involved due to some vacation breadcrumbs where she was seemingly with Riley. Moroney confirmed they happened to be on vacation in the same place, but also shut down the thought that they were seeing each other in a romantic capacity.
As a result of all of this, people thought that Ella and Megan might have some drama going on too, and there were countless videos where fans were explaining their theories about this non-existent love triangle, and it got really out of hand… honestly, it was annoying to me, so I can only imagine how over it Ella must be at this point, because there’s no doubt that a lot of it was completely made up by fans who just wanted to think it was true.
And during a recent radio interview, Ella laughed as she talked about the fact that her dad sees a lot of the online stuff about his daughter and is always calling to confirm it’s not true, which is what most dad’s would do in this situation, I think. Ella says she’s always telling him to “stop reading Facebook comments,” which are typically a total cesspool:
“What’s funny too is, my dad has seen the drama stuff on Facebook and stuff, like anything really, he’s like, ‘Come on, this ain’t right.’ And I’m like dad, ‘You know that’s not true, stop reading Facebook comments. Please, god, can you stop reading these.’ He like, ‘Ugh, alright, sorry. I just don’t know what to do.’”
When pressed on how many of the rumors that have gone around over the last year or so are true, Ella says it’s about “10% at the most,” adding that the fans get way more invested in it than the artists involved:
“10%, at the very most. I mean… I think the people get more worked up than we do.”
It’s good for business to constantly have your name in the headlines in this day and age, that’s no secret, so I’m sure that helps make it a little less frustrating at times, but more often that not, most of the time, in fact, the rumors are simply that: just rumors. It’s gotta be weird for her family to see stuff about Ella online, especially when they know it’s not true, so I certainly understand the concern on that front.
But still, it’s a funny image to picture Ella’s dad calling her to talk about random Facebook rumors, and it’s all part of becoming one of country music’s it girls and scoring massive hits like “Weren’t For the Wind.”
