“How’s Your Mom’s Basement?”: Ella Langley Savagely Shuts Down Troll Accusing Her of Faking Guitar Skills

Tired of all the trolls.
As time passes, it’s becoming increasingly clear that 2026 will go down as the year of Ella Langley. As of writing, it’s pretty safe to say that she’s not only the hottest country artist on the planet right now but also one of the hottest artists in all of music.
Thanks to the success of “Choosin’ Texas,” the buzz surrounding her sophomore album, Dandelion, which received a lot of critical and commercial love upon its release on April 10th, and continued popularity nationwide, Langley is not only becoming a torchbearer for women in country music but also a force to be reckoned with in the music industry as a whole.
In particular, “Choosin’ Texas” has been one of the biggest hits we’ve ever seen in country music. As it stands today, it’s the longest-running #1 hit by a female country artist on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (nine weeks), the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay chart simultaneously and just the seventh country song solely recorded by a woman to go #1 on the Hot 100 in the history of the chart. Additionally, it’s also helped her become the second woman in history to hold the #1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country song/album and the first female country singer to capture the top two songs in the U.S. with “Be Her” sliding up to #2 this week.
Unsurprisingly, the unprecedented success over the past six months has not come without its fair share of haters for the Alabama native. At first, the most common one was ignorant people online calling her an industry plant, given the fast rise that “Choosin’ Texas” saw recently. Of course, if you’ve been paying attention to the genre over the past three or four years, this can pretty quickly be disproven thanks to Langley scoring early hits dating back to 2023 with tracks like “paint the town blue,” “Country Boy’s Dream Girl” and the Koe Wetzel collaboration, “This Is Why We Fight.”
Recently, the new smear campaign against Langley stems from her recent collaboration with Morgan Wallen on “I Can’t Love You Anymore.” Moving away from the industry plant allegations, trolls and haters have now crowned the “weren’t for the wind” singer right-wing, “racist” and, of course, MAGA, due to the fact that she teamed up with Wallen for the song. Like Wallen, Langley has yet to give anything close to resembling a political statement throughout her music career and has remained about as apolitical as one can get in today’s hyper-politicized world. Obviously, it should also go without saying that she has been anything but “racist” as well.
It seems as if the constant barrage of hate recently has Langley a bit tired (and I don’t blame her one bit).
After kicking off her Dandelion Tour over the weekend, the 27-year-old singer/songwriter took to TikTok to post a concert clip of the extended, live outro for the new track of Dandelion, “Broken,” which features her lead guitarist, Ben Flanders, ripping a guitar solo.
It’s quite obvious (if you know anything about music) that Flanders is playing the solo while Langley leans in next to him to play the rhythm in the clip. Despite this, it didn’t stop one troll in the comments from making the baseless claim that she wasn’t playing the guitar at all, instead using it as a prop.
Not holding back, Langley would clap back at the troll, hilariously asking him how is it like stuck in his mom’s basement:
“How’s your moms basement?”

Ella Fellas in the comments were quickly pointing out what I mentioned earlier regarding rhythm vs. lead guitar, roasting the wannabe troll and defending the “Be Her” singer:
“bro she’s playing rhythm, really not that hard. the dude on the left if playing all the main notes, Ella is just keeping rhythm, which is pretty easy to do in nails too”
“dude got roasted by Ella“
“Why is it always the accounts hiding behind a pic other than themselves that talk the most crap behind their keyboards….”
“Disrespect my girl again I dare you”
“Bro there’s no way Ella said that to you dawg”
With so much negativity being hurled at her recently, especially with the new-found success, I can’t even blame Ella for responding to a troll (and roasting him along the way).
