Lainey Wilson Says Her Fiancé, Duck Hodges, Pulled A Prank On Her In Panama City She Did NOT Find Funny: “The Wedding’s Off, Bro”

I don’t blame her at all.
Lainey Wilson got her now-fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges, and she shared some gorgeous photos of the day on Instagram when it happened back in February:
Duck was a four-year starter at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Steelers in 2019. He was named the starter during the 2019 season when Mason Rudolph went down with an injury, going 3-3 as a starting quarterback before being waived by the Steelers and signed to the practice squad prior to the 2020 season.
They dated for about four years before getting engaged, and during a party celebrating her radio hit “4X4XU,” Lainey previously shared details about the proposal that happened at the stunning George Jones estate the week after the Super Bowl. She says they haven’t exactly started planning much yet, as she’s been out on the road this year for her extensive Whirlwind tour, but during a recent appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, she told him about something Duck did that almost had her calling off the wedding.
Well, not exactly, but during a headlining performance at Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida in May, Lainey says Duck, his mom, and her mom came up with a truly diabolical prank: he dyed his hair bleach blonde without telling her.
She obviously didn’t find it very funny at all…
“A bad haircut, like a real bad haircut, can be painful. Duck dyed his hair bleach blonde as a joke. Just as a joke… well, I don’t know, but I’m gonna tell you right now, I didn’t think it was funny. I didn’t think it was funny. I said, ‘You better sleep with a bald cap on until that thing grows out.’ Now it’s starting to look like frosted tips.”
When in Rome, I guess? The frosted tips might be more offensive than the bleach blonde, to be honest. Well, Theo joked Lainey should’ve let Duck go down there “and make some money” because he had the look going:
“Take him down to Panama City and let him make a little bit of money.”
And she told him that’s exactly where he did it… she says her jaw was on the floor, and she told him the “wedding was off” because of it, and like I said, I don’t blame her at all:
“That’s where he did it, as a joke. We were playing Panama City, and my mama and his mama and him had this bright idea… and they videoed my reaction seeing it. My mouth was wide open, I was like, uh-uh. No. The wedding’s off, the wedding’s off, bro.”
You’re playing with fire, there, Duck… I’d think twice about something like that, at least until after the wedding… because hopefully it will have totally grown out by then, and Lainey can’t call it off at that point.
