Here’s why a commentator doesn’t think the Duke of Sussex will be able to recover following the damning Sentebale accusations.
Just when things were moving along and progressing well for Meghan Markle following her Netflix show and the launch of her lifestyle brand and other new ventures, Prince Harry became embroiled in new drama and some of it is attached to his wife.
The Duke of Sussex suddenly resigned from the Sentebale charity he co-founded in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana, on March 25, saying: “It is devastating that the relationship between the charity’s trustees and the chair of the board broke down beyond repair, creating an untenable situation.”
But the story wasn’t over then as the chair of the board, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, decided to speak out and accused Harry of “bullying” and “harassment.” She also alleged that when the prince asked her to release a statement in support of Meghan after an awkward encounter, she declined and the duke then sent her an “unpleasant” and “imperious” message.
Here’s what a commentator is saying now about the Sussexes’ latest drama, plus Prince Harry’s response to Dr. Chandauka’s allegations.
Prince Harry is facing the same type of allegations he brought against his own family
During an appearance on Sky News, commentator and TV broadcaster Esther Krakue was asked about everything Chandauka has accused Harry of.
She said: “Harry is in a delicious bit of irony facing the same allegations he leveled against members of his own family. The interesting thing is this kind of drama seems to follow around the Sussexes like flies on rotting fruit.”
Krakue then explained: “Dr. Sophie actually alleged many things against Prince Harry. One of which was him not wanting to speak about the sore relationship he had with his family, particularly after Megxit back in 2020. She alleges that there was a steep fall in corporate and individual and family sponsors to the Sentebale charity that were directly linked to his exit from the royal family and [what] ensued afterwards.
“So for [Harry] to try and paint her as someone who is failing at her fundraiser efforts, she alleges is laughable … Another thing [Dr. Chandauka] said is he hasn’t been to South Africa in over five years even though he’d been allegedly running this charity for the last 20 years and the only reason he went to Sub-Saharan Africa and went to Lesotho is because she asked him to.”
The commetator added: “Sentable employs over 550 employees, many of whom are there on the ground in Lesotho and Bostswana, and I doubt the prince can even name 10% of them. So I think what he realizes is the drama isn’t following him around because British people can’t get over the fact that he left the royal family. It’s mainly the Sussexes’ idea of ‘doing good,’ which they think is hoping from one fantasy or nice idea to another instead of getting down to the nitty-gritty.”
Krakue concluded that she did not think Prince Harry would be able to recover from these fresh allegations of “rascism” and “bullying,” among other things.
The duke’s friend has responded to the allegations on Harry’s behalf
Alex Rayner attended Eron College with Prince Harry. He spoke to the duke right after Dr. Chandauka went public with her allegations against him and says the prince is “shocked” by them.
Rayner told the Daily Mail: “[Harry] is just beyond heartbroken and flabbergasted that the charity he founded as a teenager has been taken hostage by the chair. It feels tantamount to a hostile takeover. He is so upset and hurt and wounded about the things that are being said about him. I think it’s too early to tell whether he will just walk away now or whether he might try and get it back.
“The way he feels is as if he has had one of his fingers cut off. He set up Sentebale with a school friend when the death of his mum was a fresh memory. At the moment, he is just in total shock about what is being said and the accusations being made.”
