David Muir skips World News Tonight AGAIN as weekend ABC anchor steps in

David Muir seemed to take an early weekend as he ditched his hosting duties on his ABC show, World News Tonight, on Friday.

Anyone who tuned into the news program to see David delivering important information was met with the normal anchor’s colleague, ABC weekend host Whit Johnson.

At the start of the show, Whit explained why he was in David’s chair at the start of World News Tonight during his introduction. “Good evening, thanks for joining us this Friday night. I’m Whit Johnson, filling in for David,” David’s temporary replacement said. It’s not clear why David was missing from Friday’s episode.

This isn’t the first time David has been M.I.A. from World News Tonight. David also missed his show last Friday to have a night out in New York City.

Last Friday night, he attended the a premiere for docuseries Running with the Wolves, created by his friends, married Live! hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

Running with the Wolves covers Mark and Kelly’s pathway to becoming Italian soccer team owners.

More recently, David praised Mark and Kelly for producing and releasing their docuseries on social media.

“You’ve really done it,” David told the two as he came to talk to them on the Live! in a clip shared to the World News Tonight and Kelly’s respective Instagram accounts. “You’ve gone and bought a team.” Also, in the video, David gave Kelly and Mark a hug.

The joint Instagram post explained, “LIVE with Kelly and Mark’ co-host Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos share a new side of themselves as Italian soccer team owners, ahead of a new ESPN docuseries about their journey to help lift a town and their underdog soccer team. @DavidMuirABC speaks with them about their new docuseries Running with the Wolves on ESPN.”

David definitely supports his friends, so much so that he recently filled in for Kelly’s husband, serving as her co-host on Live! earlier this week.

Kelly took to social media to share a snap of her and David to promote him being a guest co-host on her morning show.

David’s muscles popped in the tight black T-shirt he wore while posing beside Kelly, who was wearing a beige dress with light blue floral patterns.

“Getting ready to watch @abcworldnewstonight to see if Kelly co-anchors with @davidmuirabc. Thanks again for guest cohosting today!” the caption explained.

Many online couldn’t but raved over how handsome David looked beside Kelly.

One user shared, “Now that’s a handsome man.”

Another added, “David Muir has got to be one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen,” with a third zoned in on David’s physique, writing, “Those “guns” of his, get me every time!!”

A fourth swooned, “It was great watching David this morning,” as another echoed, “My favorite episodes yesterday with Jerry and David today.”
