David Muir ‘alarmed’ as he shares shocking video of diver being bitten by a shark

ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir shared a terrifying video with viewers of a diver being bitten on the arm by a shark after freeing it from a fishing net
The World News Tonight anchor began the broadcast by sharing, “To the index, alarming video tonight showing a diver bitten on the arm while surrounded by sharks off Jupiet Beach, Florida.” The clip showed a group of divers surrounded by sharks, before one of the animals bit a diver.
David continued, “The diver in the center of the screen there says he was bitten on the arm by a lemon shark after removing a fishing net stuck on it head.” The news anchor revealed the man needed 40 stitches after the ordeal.
A video of the broadcast was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Video shows the moment a diver was bitten by a lemon shark while trying to free it from a fishing net. The incident occurred as several divers were in the water surrounded by sharks off the coast of Jupiter, Florida.”

Lemon sharks live in coastal waters in close proximity to swimmers, surfers and divers. They are generally considered to be low risk to humans and only a small number of attacks have been documented.
According to the International Shark Attack File (ISAF), there have been 10 unprovoked attacks, all in Florida and the Caribbean. None of these attacks were fatal. However, caution is still advised as they are a predatory species.
Viewers were shocked by the clip and quickly shared their thoughts. One person commented, “My best advice for swimming with Sharks: “Don’t!!””

Another suggested, “Poor man helping the shark it probably hurt him when he removed it and he reacted so glad the diver will be ok. Sharks are mysterious.”
Someone else tried to look on the bright side, writing, “He will have a great story to share and the scar to prove it.” A fourth person added, “Thank goodness that’s all that happened to him!” while another warned, “Swimming with sharks? Playing with fire.”
A sixth commenter, however, wasn’t happy with the diver. “Play stupid games… STOP FEEDING SHARKS OFF JUPITER. This should be illegal,” they fumed.
