Country music star and husband planning to have kids: ‘Little ones say that it is OK’

Country music star Ty Herndon has been making the media rounds around the recent release of his new memoir, “What Mattered Most,” and the singer recently made a big personal revelation.

The 63-year-old came out in 2014, and married his husband, Alex Schwartz, in 2023. Herndon said the two are planning on expanding their family with kids.

“Normal for me today is nothing like what normal looked like for me then,” he told People Magazine referencing his growth since the times when he struggled with his sexuality.

“I got a house payment, a husband, a dog, maybe a baby next year, just we got car payments, insurance,” he added. “We are pretty normal. I was sitting with (former NFL player) Colton Underwood and his husband at the GLAAD Awards. He was like, ‘Are you really prepared to be this normal?’ I said, ‘Oh God, yes.’ I wanted it my whole life, but it just didn’t look that way back then.”

That is when Herndon talked about he and Schwartz’s plans for the future.

“We’re talking about kids next year,” he said. “We’re talking about things that are in my future that I never thought I would talk about, like adding on a room to the house.

“A couple of my friends have babies, and they’re like, ‘It ain’t no difference, gay or straight. You going to get pooped on,’” he added. “I’ve been told from my nephew, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve got a few friends that have same-sex parents, and we think that’s really cool.’

“The little ones say that it is OK today.”
