Legendary country musician Darius Rucker is venturing from the stage to sports enterprise.

The Grammy Award-winning singer joined NASCAR’s Legacy Motor Club as a team co-owner, the organization announced Wednesday.

Rucker, who averages over 8 million monthly Spotify streams, will serve a multi-faceted role with the organization, according to the Legacy Motor Club news release.

“Darius is someone who understands the power of connection – with fans, with communities and through storytelling,” said Jimmie Johnson, owner of Legacy Motor Club. “What he’s built in music, the authenticity he brings to everything he does aligns directly with who we are as a club. We’re excited to welcome him into legacy and to build something meaningful together.”

Rucker confirmed his involvement on “The Dan Patrick Show” on March 25.

“We can now announce that I am one of the investors of Legacy Motor Club… It’s cool. You know how much I love motorsports. You know how much I’ve loved NASCAR for years, so this is pretty cool for me.”

Country Icon Partners with NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson

Legacy Motor Club (Legacy MC) is a premier auto racing organization owned by seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and 2024 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Jimmie Johnson.

Rucker will work with Legacy Motor Club on projects to connect sports, music, and fan interaction as an organization member. Additionally, he will help Legacy Motor Club bolster its brand and business development.

“From day one, this has been about building a Club that people want to be part of,” Johnson added. “Darius brings a different lens, a creative mindset, and a passion for people that will help us continue to grow in new ways.”

Rucker was the lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish before venturing into a successful solo career. His solo country career includes Platinum-certified albums Learn to Live and True Believers.

He is a three-time Grammy winner and the first Black artist to win the CMA New Artist of the Year. In 2023, Rucker was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Now, the country musician will focus his efforts on more than just the musical type of track.
