Crystal Gayle has reportedly pulled out of the “Your Roots Are Showing” event that is set to take place in Dublin, Ireland

Crystal Gayle

Country icon, Crystal Gayle, has unfortunately cancelled an upcoming appearance in Ireland. The “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” singer has reportedly suffered a knee injury. She was expected to make an appearance at the “Your Roots Are Showing” event, which is scheduled to take place in Belfast.

“I was truly looking forward to coming to Belfast, singing a few songs, sharing some stories, and spending time with everyone,” Gayle said in a press release. “But my doctor tells me this knee isn’t ready for those overseas miles just yet. I promise I’ll be Ready for the Times to Get Better…Just not at 30,000 feet next week. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can make it up to you soon.”

Gayle rose to prominence on the country scene during the 70s and 80s. Her 1986 track, “Straight To The Heart” hit No. 1, making it one of her most successful releases. Other hits include “I’ll Get Over You,” “You And I,” and “Why Have You Left The One You Left Me For.”

Even now, Gayle, 75, is still working on and releasing music. She has a new album, “Melodic Genuis – the Songs Of Burt Bacharach” set to release later this year.

Crystal Gayle Was Not the Only Country Star Set To Make an Appearance

While Gayle’s European fans will undoubtedly be disheartened to hear she will no longer be making the trip to Belfast, they will still get the opportunity to see some stellar names from the country and folk genres.

Dee White, a rising songwriter in Nashville, is listed among those who are expected to be in attendance. Grammy-winning banjoist Ron Block and singer-songwriter Jessica Willis Fisher are also listed among the acts.

Rissi Palmer, host of the “Color Me Country” podcast, is expected to lead the event, with an aim to bridge the gap between American and Irish country acts.

Wallis Bird, David Keenan and Clare Sands are some of the bigger names from the Irish scene.

Gayle’s presence at the event would likely have taken the event to another level. Nevertheless, those in attendance will undoubtedly still have a night they won’t want to forget.
