Carrie Underwood is finding humor in the “unpredictability” of her live show.
The country star, 42, revealed on Saturday, April 12, that during the second-to-last show of her Las Vegas residency, Reflection, she dealt with a “wardrobe malfunction” that left her “booty on display.”
In the Instagram post, which Underwood shared right before her final performance at the Resorts World Theatre later that night, the American Idol alum posted a handful of images of herself on stage during her prior performance, as she reflected on the “epic” penultimate night in a caption.
“Last night was epic…wardrobe malfunctions and all,” Underwood joked with a laughing emoji.
“Nothing like being stuck out on stage with your booty on display! 😳🤪 That’s what makes a live show fun…the unpredictability,” she added. “One thing I CAN always predict, though, is how awesome the crowd is going to be! Thanks for bringing it, #Vegas ! Let’s do it one final time tonight!”

The wardrobe malfunction didn’t deter Underwood, as she eventually wrapped the residency — which had been running for over three years since she opened in December 2021 — the following night. During the 90-minute concert, the “Jesus, Take the Wheel” singer played hits including “Cowboy Casanova,” “Before He Cheats” and “Church Bells,” and reflected on her residency journey, telling fans she was “extremely blessed to be able to be on this stage.”
“There are so many turns of events I know in my life, and I’m sure in these guys’ lives, that only God could have opened those doors and got me to the next place,” Underwood said.
“It’s been really incredible to be on that roller coaster ride, and definitely recognize that it’s all Him and just all blessings,” the mom of two added. “It has been an absolute honor to get to be on this stage. From all of us, we are so blessed. I’m gonna be reflecting on all that we’ve done here with you guys.”

Underwood ended up playing a total of 72 residency gigs, telling PEOPLE last month ahead of her swan-song performance that “the chance to play for an extended period of time in one place has really been satisfying.”
“We always like to bring big production values to our show, but Reflection really allowed us to take that to a new level,” the eight-time Grammy winner shared. “We have some amazing set pieces that we could never pack onto trucks and move from city to city every night, and it’s been really fun adding more elements like the aerialists and dancers, which we don’t usually have in the show.”
Underwood, who earlier this year performed at Donald Trump’s second inauguration, is no stranger to wardrobe mishaps. She previously told PEOPLE in 2022 that during one residency gig, a zipper “busted open right before” she hit the stage. “Luckily my dresser added a big bow, and no one knew the difference,” she joked at the time. “Stage magic, people!”
Both the singer and stylist Emma Trask also revealed the details behind the residency lookbook back in 2022, with Underwood telling PEOPLE that the wardrobe was “all about more rhinestones and more fringe.”
“That was my main directive for the wardrobe and Emma and her team took it to the max,” she said. “We wanted to combine the glitz and glamour of Vegas with the iconic style women of country have rocked for years. We could definitely do more with the sets, wardrobe and special effects for my residency than we are able to do for a touring production that has to be loaded in and out every night.”
