Carly Pearce Takes Unexpected Ambulance Ride After VOA Country Music Festival Performance

Although crews take numerous precautions to make sure singers are safe on stage, accidents happen. There was the time James Hetfield suffered burns after walking into a line of pyrotechnics. Or the moment a backup dancer struck Lady Gaga in the head, causing a concussion. While these accidents became part of the singer’s history, Carly Pearce found herself with her own story after needing stitches when struggling to open a bottle of ranch dressing.

Often considered a condiment, fans of the dressing never considered it to be a weapon. The somewhat peculiar accident happened on August 7th when Pearce performed at the VOA Country Music Festival. Excited for the opportunity, she found herself at the hospital when she cut her thumb on the bottle.

Sharing the experience with her fans while doing her makeup, Pearce believed she had ketchup on her hand when fighting with the ranch dressing. “I thought that ketchup was running down my hand, and it actually was blood. So we decided to have them just have a look at it to see if it had any glass in it or if it needed to be cleaned. And they told me that I needed a few stitches.”

Carly Pearce Just A “Bull In A China Cabinet”

While most ranch dressing comes in a plastic container, it appeared that the bottle Pearce opened was glass. “So they come in, take an X-ray to make sure there’s no glass in there, and say that I do need to have a couple stitches.” Showing off the injury, the singer added, “The stitches are right in the crease of my thumb. So I’m kinda figuring out how to do things, not the way that I would. My assistant almost had to shave my left armpit because I didn’t think I could reach it.”

To make matters worse, Pearce cut her right hand, which was the hand she used to hold the microphone. Learning to deal with the injury until it healed, she used the unusual moment to advise fans to take their time when opening any bottle. She even considered herself a “bull in a china cabinet.”

Embracing the moment, fans found the entire ordeal hilarious, commenting, “Only Carly Pearce could lose a finger to a ranch bottle.” Another person jokingly blamed it on the ranch. “The ranch had no business being that dramatic.”

As for her schedule, Pearce will travel to Costa Mesa, CA, on August 14th to perform at the Pacific Amphitheatre. The singer also had performances lined up throughout the rest of the year, with her final concert happening in Hollywood, FL, on November 21st.
