After her Rookie of the Year performance, it has been a difficult second campaign for Caitlin Clark as she prepares for her return to the golf course. Clark has been struggling with injuries and has not played since July.

But she will be back at the pro-am at the ANNIKA in November, alongside golf legend Annika Sorenstam. The pair lined up together last year and despite her own trophy collection, Sorenstam was keen to learn from the young basketball star. It comes as Miss Indiana USA paid tribute to Clark with her glitzy pageant outfit.

Sorenstam was asked about her experience getting to play with Clarke last year, and what emotional impact it had on the golf professional.

“The amount of people on the first tee and the swarm of people coming in for a pro-am, I haven’t seen that in a long time,” she said.

“It was really cool to see obviously her fans come out, but also it brings more people to the sport. It brings more people to the LPGA.

“I like to know her practice routine, her gym, what she does in the gym, but then also the correlation with golf and her sport and kind of her — some of her thoughts on girls and women’s sport and some of the things that she wants to do.

“It was an honor to play in the pro-am with Caitlin last year. The crowds were amazing, and we are excited for her return to The ANNIKA in November.”

Clarke is an ambassador for event sponsor Gainbridge and also got to tee off with former world No. 1 Nelly Korda.

“I had an amazing time at The ANNIKA last November and participating in the Pro-Am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam, two of the best in the game,” said Clark after confirming her return next month.

Despite her lengthy injury absence, Clark is continuing to make her mark across sport in the States. NBA star Jaylen Clark is the latest athlete to use her as inspiration.

The Minnesota Timberwolves guard confirmed that he is switching his jersey to No.22, the same number worn by Clark with the Fever.

“I wore 0 and then when Donte came … I gave the number to him,” he said across NBA digital content. “And then I’m like, ‘I’m close to Iowa and Caitlin Clark,’ so I put 22. … Hopefully, I get some jersey sales.”
