“…this is a super honest lyric,” Shelton joked.

Country superstars Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are known for their ongoing, good-natured internet banter,  and Shelton’s latest round of trolling might be one of his funniest yet.

This time, Shelton took aim at Bryan’s just-released song, “Word On The Street,” specifically poking fun at a lyric in the chorus that references being “B.S. free in B.F.E.” Rather than let the line slide, Shelton decided to have a little fun with it,  all while sitting on his tractor and doing farm work in Oklahoma.

In a video shared to social media, Shelton began, “Hey guys, it’s Blake here. I’m out here doing a little farm work in Oklahoma out in the woods. Yeah, I was listening to an old country station out of Ardmore, Oklahoma. I was driving along and I heard my initials on this song. And so I turned the radio up.”

That’s when he realized that Bryan’s new song was playing through his speakers.

“I heard the lyrics and man, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer. So I actually had to look up what BFE means because he says ‘BS free in BFE,’ I think,” Shelton joked. “And so I looked up BFE and man, I got to say, this is one of the most honest lyrics that I’ve heard from Luke.”

In true Blake Shelton form, he took the joke a step further: “And I’m damn happy about it because I can honestly say that I’ve never been butt effing in Egypt. I’ve never even been to Egypt. So I definitely never butt F’ed there. But anyway, that’s a risky and powerful lyric from Luke! And very honest is my point because I’ve never been there and he’s right about that and never done that there. And I’ll just leave it at that.”

Shelton’s commentary about his fellow country star’s new song didn’t stop there.

“But anyway, it’s always shocking when you hear your name or your initials in a song and come to find out it’s Luke and he is a buddy of mine. And so it makes sense that he knows these things about me. But I just wanted to personally get on here and tell you guys, this is a super honest lyric. And so go check out Luke’s new song. I’m proud of the guy. I love him,” he quipped.

Luke Bryan also addressed the lyric on his Instagram, joking that the line was a reference to Shelton.

This is just the latest light-hearted jab Shelton has taken at Bryan. Recently, he even called out a fan at one of his concerts for wearing Luke Bryan merch, and took things a step further by having his team hand-deliver her a shirt with his own face on it instead.

Shelton and Bryan have spent years trading playful jabs, from the time Blake hilariously attempted to mimic Luke’s dance moves onstage to the moment Bryan was mistaken for Shelton at a gas station.
