Fans Defend Beyoncé After Singer Says Her Album ‘Ain’t Country Music’

Gavin Adcock Blasts Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter': "That Sh** Ain't Country Music"

If Beyoncé‘sfans didn’t know who Gavin Adcock was before, they certainly do now. The “Last One To Know” singer went off on Beyoncé, slamming her recent album, Cowboy Carter, as “not country music.”

In a TikTok posted on June 29, the 26-year-old Adcock stands on stage during a show. He tells the audience that his not-yet-released album, Own Worst Enemy, is sitting at No. 4 on Apple Music’s Country Albums chart. Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem is at No. 1, followed by Parker McCollum’s self-titled album and Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter.

“You can tell her we’re coming for her [explicative],” said Adcock. “That [explicative] ain’t country music, and it ain’t never been country music, and it ain’t never gonna be country music.” From there, Adcock and his band launched into “some southern rock.”

It didn’t take long for Beyoncé’s fans to find this TikTok. “‘Beyoncé ain’t country’ followed by ‘we’re about to play some southern rock’ is wild,” commented singer-songwriter Chris Housman.

“For people who don’t like her, her name is always in y’alls mouth. Also rock isn’t country, babes,” added another.

“Weird, these guys won’t call out Post Malone for doing country music.Or Jelly Roll. Or any other white R&B singer who went country. Or hell, they never called out Justin Timberlake for performing at their country award show. I WONDER WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS!” said another.

Some commenters agreed with Adcock. But the majority of the comments were in her favor. “Beyoncé is selling out stadiums [while] he is playing southern rock [in] some bar. Good luck to whoever this man is.”

Though the 58th Annual Country Music Association Awards snubbed Cowboy Carter, it won Best Country Album and Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys.

Over the past weekend, Beyoncé was less concerned with what Adcock had to say about her and more about gravity. While performing at Houston’s NRG Stadium, her flying car malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to tip and nearly drop her. Fans shared footage of the terrifying incident and the dramatic rescue.
