Ariana Grande calls out Donald Trump supporters, White House responds: ‘Save your tears’

A White House spokesperson hit back at the pop star with a statement riddled with some of her lyrics.

Ariana Grande called out Donald Trump voters and the current administration, prompting a response from the White House.

The actress and pop star, 32, reshared a pointed post on her Instagram Story that checked in with Trump voters, asking if their lives have “gotten better,” if their groceries have “gotten cheaper,” if their health insurance premiums have “gone down,” if their work/life balance “has improved,” and if they were any happier in the days since Trump re-took office.

The post condemned the administration’s ICE raids across the U.S. and transphobic rhetoric, as well as the current state of free speech in the wake of the controversy surrounding Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.

White House spokesperson Kush Desai pushed back on behalf of the administration with the following statement riddled with the pop star’s song lyrics: “Save your tears, Ariana. Because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investments.”

Desai added, “He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!”

Grande notably supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election in her native Florida, encouraging her followers on social media to get to the polls early last year. The “eternal sunshine” singer has also counted the White House as one of her stages, having performed for former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the 2014 In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul event.

The Grammy winner is set to embark on her Eternal Sunshine Tour in promotion of her seventh studio album of the same name in 2026, marking her first tour in seven years. Grande is also gearing up for the theatrical release of Wicked: For Good, the second half of Jon M. Chu’s Wizard of Oz prequel in which the singer stars as Glinda, on Nov. 21. She’s also set to star in the forthcoming Meet the Parents 4.
