Carrie Underwood has struck up a strong connection with American Idol colleague Jelly Roll and a source exclusively tells Life & Style that they’re both down to collaborate on music in the very near future – much to the delight of adoring fans, who’ve been blowing up social media urging them to make it happen!

On a Facebook fan page for the singer – real name Jason Bradley DeFord, 40 – one fan said, “I think Jelly Roll and Carrie Underwood should make a song together,” and another chimed in, “That would be awesome!”

A third user wrote, “Jelly Roll would be perfect with anyone he did a duet with!!”

As for Carrie, 42, the source says she “loves Jelly Roll” and “having him on the show has been such a blessing because he is such a bright light.”

“She’s such a fan of his music too, she thinks he’s so talented and loves how their voices sound together,” adds the source. “When fans started saying they should collab, that actually had a big impact. It put it out there and now they are seriously talking about doing just that.”

However, the idea is still “in the early stages,” according to the source, who notes that the “logistics” of a team-up between the busy singers would still “have to be worked out,” including “choosing a song, whether to make it original or a cover, [and] how the split would go financially.”

“All those things have to be decided so this isn’t an overnight thing,” the source says.

Despite all the planning that would need to go into it, a “big plus” to a collaboration between the “Before He Cheats” singer and the “I Am Not Okay” artist is that they could “capitalize on the promo via the show and also promote the show when they promote the song.”

“It’s kind of a no-brainer to do this. It may even get fast tracked to capitalize on the fan interest right now,” the source explains.

With both artists seemingly on board, one thing that could be standing in Carrie’s way is time. As Life & Style previously reported, a source spilled that all of 2025 is going to be “absolutely packed” for the country star as she balances her new American Idol gig with all of her other responsibilities.

“Being a judge on Idol is going to be such a nerve wracking experience, that would be enough to handle on its own, but on top of that she has all kinds of gigs lined up plus her residency in Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine how she’ll pull it all off,” added the source.

“And of course, beyond just being exhausting for her it’s also going to mean more time apart from Mike,” the source shared, referring to her former Hockey pro husband, Mike Fisher, 44, with whom she shares sons Isaiah and Jacob. “It’s going to be a huge juggling act. She feels confident she can handle it, but people do worry she’s taking on too much.”
