The View hosts responded to the backlash Bad Bunny and the NFL have been facing ahead of his Super Bowl halftime performance, which even inspired the conservative nonprofit organization Turning Point USA to create its own alternative to the broadcast, called The All-American Halftime Show.

While discussing whether they believe Bad Bunny will use the halftime show to make a political statement against the United States, Sara Haines pointed out, “The problem is anyone watching the Turning Point show, it’s only political. So, if you’re watching the halftime show, it’s awesome music and thats why they book so well, if you’re watching Turning Point, it’s because you’re choosing to be political.”

But Alyssa Farah Griffin then took shots at Kid Rock, who is set to headline the All-American Halftime Show.

“If you have to pretend  Kid Rock is good music, you’re making it political and you’re leading with your politics,” she said with a laugh.

Later in the broadcast, Griffin continued taking shots at the country music star, who has become an outspoken conservative and is a vocal supporter of President Trump.

“At the end of the day, Kid Rock is a very average artist who has mostly kind of gone past his prime,” she said, before adding, “Average might be generous.”

Sunny Hostin also responded to Kid Rock’s recent statements against Bad Bunny, in which the singer said, “[Bad Bunny] said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”

While reminding Kid Rock that Puerto Ricans are also American citizens, she pointed out that many musicians from the United Kingdom have also performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, including Phil Collins, The Who, U2 and Coldplay.

“That didn’t make the halftime show un-American,” she pointed out. “It is so very racist what is happening in this country about Bad Bunny.”

Griffin also advised viewers to “set your politics aside for the day.”

“It just seems like a waste of energy to me,” she commented.
