“Say Yes!”: Marine’s Viral Video Asking Ella Langley To The Marine Corps Ball Has Country Fans Begging For A Response

A Marine out in Utah is hoping that Ella Langley will be “Choosin’ Utah” here in a couple of days.
Say what you want about social media, but on occasion, it delivers on its intended purpose. Like in this case, where a TikTok with 1.6 million views and over 150,000 likes has gotten the attention of the masses… and could potentially help make one Marine Corps member’s long shot proposal a reality.
Gunnery Sgt. Stephen Corson, who resides out in Salt Lake City, Utah, is preparing for the Marine Corps ball. The celebration is set to take place this upcoming weekend, but the ball itself is on January 16th. Corson spoke with FOX13 about the weekend, and how he came to invite a rising female country star to attend:
“It’s like a Marine Corps thing. People are always just inviting different celebrities, and I had joked about it in the office, like I’ll invite somebody.”
So who did the Gunnery Sergeant decide to go with?
Well, Corson is evidently a bit of a country music fan, and even though some of his friends in the service thought it was a bad idea, he decided to invite Ella Langley to the Marine Corps ball. In his mind… it doesn’t hurt to throw it out there and see what happens:
“I was like, ‘I’ll invite Ella Langley.’ Nobody believed I would do it. It took me about three weeks before I actually made the video and threw it up. I had to think about it a bit. I didn’t want to come off too bad. I think it came out pretty funny. That was the goal. To make somebody laugh.”
In the video that the Marine thought up, Corson can be seen asking ChatGPT what the odds are of Langley actually saying yes to his invitation. The artificial intelligence software gave the situation a 0.5 percent to 2 percent chance of everything playing out in Corson’s favor, and described it as “basically a lottery ticket.”
So, in classic “you’re telling me there’s a chance” fashion, Gunnery Sgt. Stephen Corson put together the comical video, and then politely asked the “You Look Like You Love Me” singer if she’d attend the ball with him:
“I’d like to invite Ms. Ella Langley out to experience core Marine Corps culture for a night. Now I would sing and invite you, but unfortunately I haven’t been gifted with that kind of voice. I don’t normally drink Jack, but we can do that for a night as well. It might not be Tennessee or Texas, but I hope you are ‘Choosin’ Utah’ for a night.”
That video went out towards the end of November last year, but it’s picked up a lot of steam as of late. Though social media users in the comments are begging Ella Langley to accept the offer, there’s no word yet on if she’ll go, or if she’s even responded to the Marine at all.
And if she’s going to, the clock is ticking. We’re now only a couple of days away until the Marine Corps ball on January 16. Guess only time will tell if Ella responds to this viral invitation…
