It is a well-known trend that more and more famous athletes are deciding to invest their money in sports clubs. The latest example is Tom Brady and Ryan Reynolds, who have invested huge amounts of money in some of the sports projects.
There is already speculation that other sports stars could do the same.
The two main candidates who could invest money are Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.
The famous basketball player has already invested money in serious projects such as the one in NASCAR.
However, Tiger has not made such moves so far.
As a golf icon and a sports legend in general, many expect the experienced golfer to invest huge amounts of money in one of the English clubs.
Matt Jansen, a former football player, commented on the potential investments by Jordan and Tiger Woods, believing that they may make the right move, and also make some of the clubs much stronger with their influence.
“It could be any club, couldn’t it? But the likes of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods would probably be looking at Liverpool, Chelsea or Man United, those kinds of clubs. They’re that big a star. So is Tom Brady, but Birmingham are really putting their money where their mouth is. I think they’ll be a force this season.
They could target clubs in the EFL. Look at what Wrexham started and they’ve been a success. It’ll be other people putting it to the likes of Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, rather than them approaching clubs.
They’ll see whether it’s worthwhile investing their time. It’s certainly worked for the two at Wrexham, and it’s worked for Tom Brady at the moment. How far it’ll go, who knows?
I could see them buying Manchester United. The fans are unhappy with Ratcliffe at the minute, and there are protests. You couldn’t put it past somebody like that coming in, and his aura could bring success.”- he said, as quoted by Goal.
Will Tiger Woods invest his money?
Jansen then pointed out that Tiger Woods may invest his money in Blackburn, aware that there are serious problems within this club.
He stressed that he is a huge fan of Tiger Woods, believing that a documentary about him at Blackburn or Manchester United would break all records and set new trends.
As a global superstar, the 49-year-old would certainly be an important figure and someone who could lay new foundations for the big English clubs.
It is difficult to answer whether it will happen. So far, the experienced golfer has not shared his intentions to invest money in any project related to sports clubs.
