You are the worst people and you know it.’

US musician Ryan Adams has slammed Australians after a disastrous cross-Tasman tour saw fans leave his gigs early.
Adams wrapped up his run of shows across Australia and New Zealand on Saturday with a performance at the Bruce Mason Centre in Auckland.
The tour was supposed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his critically acclaimed debut solo album Heartbreakers, but has instead resulted in him saying he will “never again” play Down Under.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the seven-time Grammy nominee described Australia as the “worst country ever, every time to play. Thank f*** never again”.
“You are the worst people and you know it and the best you can go is copy Americans and UK culture,” the post reads.
“Stew in your own juices.”
A new post on Sunday confirmed the tour was Adams’ “very last show overseas”.
“I might not see you again but I’ll keep making these records and books because I love it … And I love you.”
Both posts came after a series of apologies to Australian fans, who saw the singer storm off stage after odd interactions with crowd members.
“I overreacted to a troll who repeatedly harassed myself and others in Sydney. It was a beautiful show. It was wrong. I should have just showed the standing ovation,” he wrote last Monday.
“We are all so tired, giving the shows all we have, beyond any above. We came here because we love you and want to play three-hour shows for you.
“I am sick with a bruised sternum and a chest cold. When I cough it feels like I have a chest buster from Alien in me.
“I don’t want to be one of those people and that’s what happened. I’m too old for that mess now. Too tired. Too in love with my life.”
Another apology for a show in Melbourne on October 12 came after fans took aim at Adams for storming off stage early into the second set after a “bitter” rant about ex-girlfriend, actress Mandy Moore.
“Was good at the start of the show, but slowly began ranting, rambling and being bitter at Mandy,” one fan wrote.
A second added, “He said he was ill. Fair enough. But maybe battle through a song or two and get off. But he kept abandoning songs and saying ‘I’m sorry, this is s**t’.”
In a statement shortly after the gig, Adams said he was “wildly embarrassed and disappointed about last night”.
“The LED camera flash on iPhones and Androids going off in what to me from stage is a pitch black environment.
“I have no way to expect the flash. And what happens over time when there are so many, is I have an ocular seizure and I don’t know where I am, I don’t know what my guitar is and I panic and become disoriented.
“The saying ‘fight or flight’ applies here … You want to run, you want to make yourself not have a seizure. Last night I unfortunately had to go through that several times in front of 2500 people … Which breaks my heart. Because I was crushing that show.”
After capping off the Australian leg of the tour, Adams boasted that those who “tried to terrorised (sic) me and my family … you can’t count as high as the money I will retire on”.
