Gracie McGraw had two very important people in the audience when she took the stage for her first of two performances in The Great War & The Great Gatsby.

The 27-year-old actress — who previously appeared in Tyler Perry’s television show If Loving You Is Wrong — was among the stars on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, April 21, where the latest incarnation of historian and narrator John Monsky’s critically acclaimed production premiered.

In the crowd were Gracie’s very famous parents, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The couple, a source on the scene tells PEOPLE, were very supportive — giving their eldest daughter a rousing standing ovation at curtain call and Hill even wiping away tears at one point.

Afterwards, Tim and Hill, both 57, posed for photos in the famed institution while holding the show’s Playbill.

For the outing, Tim eschewed his traditional cowboy hat, opting instead for a blue suit which he paired with a tan polo. Hill, meanwhile, wore a burgundy suit. She pulled her hair back and finished off her look with a bright lip color.

The Great War & The Great Gatsby is part of Monsky’s American History Unbound series, which explore pivotal moments in American history through symphonic and visual presentations. The program was commissioned by Carnegie Hall, Monsky first performing the piece to a sold-out crowd in 2023.

This newly reimagined production — directed by Michael Mayer (Spring AwakeningAmerican Idiot) —is billed in a release as “equal parts concert, suspense, drama, romance, tribute, and exhibition of rare and iconic images and film from the National Archives.” It’s said to bring “fresh insights, newly uncovered research and additional musical selections to create a vivid and emotionally powerful journey for this musical and visual exploration of World War I.”

Monsky stars with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, published 100 years ago this month, and then guides the audience through WWI’s origins and its harrowing climax during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He grounds the wartime experience through the eyes of fictional characters, like WWI veterans Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway, as well as real-life figures like Quentin Roosevelt (combat pilot and the son of President Theodore Roosevelt) and author Vera Brittain (a young nurse who loses everything in the war, except her determination to end all wars).

Music from Irving Berlin, James Reese Europe, George M. Cohan and others add extra context to the piece, helping the cast “summon the voice of a generation set adrift, forever changed and looking for answers.”

Aside from Gracie, The Great War & The Great Gatsby also features Broadway vets Adam Chanler-Berat, Nicholas Christopher, Micaela Diamond and Diego Andres Rodriguez. The acclaimed choir Broadway Inspirational Voices also make a special appearance.

A second performance of The Great War & The Great Gatsby is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22. The show will be filmed and aired later on television.

Tim and Hill first met at a 1994 Country Radio Seminar showcase in Nashville. Two years later, they got even closer while touring together, which led to Tim proposing onstage in June 1996. They got married months later, on Oct. 6.

Gracie, their first of three daughters, arrived on May 5, 1997. The country music stars are also parents to Maggie, 26, and Audrey, 23.

On top of her acting career, Gracie inherited her parents’ musical talents. In 2019, Tim shared a video of himself singing a duet with his oldest daughter. She has also performed alongside him during a 2015 performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Tim McGraw Recalls Emotional Moment After Moving Daughter to Los Angeles: ‘I Just Lost It’

Her dad gushed about Gracie while speaking to PEOPLE in 2020. “Gracie, our oldest daughter, is an actress in L.A., and she makes me proud every day because she’s such a strong, independent young lady who speaks her mind,” he said. “And she makes me proud every day of the way she lives her life.”

Audrey is following in her famous family’s footsteps, too — though Maggie leads a relatively private life. Tim praised her in 2021 after she obtained a Master’s degree from Stanford University.
