However, Rotten Tomatoes now reports that, as more reviews have come in, The Witcher season 4’s critical score has been improving. As of writing, season 4 now sits at 61% based on 23 critic reviews, an 11% score increase. On the opposing end, though, is its audience score, which sits at 20% as of writing, 5% lower than previously.
Despite the dichotomy, though, the new episodes have become a major success for Netflix, entering their top charts. According to FlixPatrol, The Witcher is Number 1 worldwide on the platform as of November 4, 2025. This includes 34 countries where it reached Number 1, including Croatia, Egypt, Germany, Greece, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Switzerland, and Ukraine among others.

Season 4 of the fantasy series has been defined by major changes to the series. For one, The Witcher season 3 ended Henry Cavill’s role as Geralt, with Liam Hemsworth stepping in to replace him. The series has also received more polarizing reactions as it’s gone on, particularly due to major alterations to its source material when adapting it onscreen.
Since the cast of The Witcher season 4 and its action is still getting praised, it makes sense for its critical score and Netflix performance to be rising. Season 4 is also planned to be the penultimate for the show, with season 5 poised to be the series’ last. This makes season 4’s rising success all the more important.
Given the show’s increased score and interest on Netflix, it seems like The Witcher isn’t done delivering compelling stories pulled from the pages of the books just yet. The fantasy series may be nearing its end, but it’s one the cast and crew may still be able to stick the landing for, despite critical reception dwindling over time.
