Every time they recall, fans can’t help but feel sorry for this female singer.
Amy Winehouse, considered a musical genius, once stirred up the world showbiz in the second half of the 2000s with the album Back To Black. She successfully brought Jazz – a type of music considered outdated in the era of Pop, R&B and Hip-hop – to the mainstream market. With her characteristic husky, soulful voice, Amy is one of the voices that shaped the popular music of the 21st century, paving the way for a series of other British artists such as Adele, Sam Smith, Little Mix…

However, along with her rare talent comes a turbulent life. Her battles with alcohol, drugs and loneliness became the dark side behind Amy’s halo. And then, everything was exposed in her final performance in Belgrade (Serbia) in 2011 – a concert that Amy hoped would be a perfect rebirth from the quagmire of scandal – but turned into a tragic farewell.
On June 18, 2011, the Belgrade Arena was packed with tens of thousands of spectators, everyone was excited about Amy’s return. From the moment she stepped onto the stage, fans noticed a clear instability in her every step, gesture and expression. She arrived more than an hour late, swaying in her gait, and at times hesitated to raise her voice. The singer forgot the lyrics, her voice was hoarse and unclear, at times she had to stop, turn away from the audience as if she was disoriented. Understanding that Amy was in a bad state, the band tried to buy time, filling the silence with continuous instrumental sounds.

However, the above efforts were still not enough to satisfy the audience who were gradually losing patience. The atmosphere below the stands became increasingly stifling, not because of excitement, but because of confusion and disappointment. A series of boos began to ring out, many people even stood up and left midway. Facing the surrounding protests, Amy could only hug herself tightly, then cover her ears and cry.

The Serbian media called this performance a “stain”, and the international press considered it not only a failed concert, but also an “irreversible collapse” of an artist once admired by the whole world, whose talent and personality had touched the hearts of hundreds of millions of people.
The consequences were hard to avoid. Just the next day, Amy’s manager announced the cancellation of all remaining shows in Europe, the reason given was that she needed time to recover. Just over a month later, on July 23, 2011, Amy passed away at her home in London, at the age of 27. No one expected that the moment Amy was miserable in the face of countless curses would be the last time fans saw her on stage.

Until now, after more than 14 years, those images and videos are still deeply engraved in the hearts of many audiences, becoming the saddest music night in popular culture of the 2010s, and perhaps many years after. The young female singer is a clear proof of the dark side of the entertainment industry. Behind the frivolous and ornate appearance are souls lost in fame. Amy is just one of the cases struggling with temptation, the spiral of evil and the very high price to pay.
Amy Winehouse was born in 1983 in London, England, in a family with a musical tradition. From a young age, she showed her ability to sing and compose. After studying at art schools, Amy began writing music, performing in small clubs in London, gradually asserting her own musical personality.
Her debut album, Frank (2003), quickly attracted attention in the UK, making Amy a potential young face of Soul, Jazz and R&B music. However, it was not until her second album, Back To Black (2006), that her name really exploded. Songs like Rehab, Back To Black or You Know I’m No Good not only achieved impressive commercial results but were also highly appreciated by experts, making Amy one of the most prominent artists of the 2000s.

In 2008, Amy won 5 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Best New Artist, marking a major milestone in her career. But along with her success, her personal life was constantly scrutinized by the press for alcohol, drugs and complicated relationships. Amy’s death made her join the 27 Club – a group of celebrities who died at exactly 27 years old.
