‘The Boys’ final season trailer is here, it includes something Supernatural fans have been waiting to see since the show ended in 2020.
Prime Video dropped the final season trailer for The Boys on March 5, and buried in two minutes of Homelander chaos and Billy Butcher mayhem is something one massive pop-culture fandom will love. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins share a scene together for the first time since Supernatural ended in November 2020.
The three are onscreen simultaneously, confirmed by showrunner Eric Kripke himself, who told TV Insider, ‘I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.’ The trailer makes good on that promise. Padalecki appears in a tracksuit, with Ackles’ Soldier Boy visible right behind him. Moments later, Soldier Boy is seen choking a character played by Collins.
None of it was accidental. Kripke created Supernatural and has been systematically rebuilding his old cast inside The Boys since Season 3, when Ackles first appeared as Soldier Boy. Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Rob Benedict all made the jump before Padalecki or Collins. Kripke once called Padalecki ‘the Pokémon I haven’t collected yet,’ and everything finally aligned after Walker was canceled in 2024, leaving Padalecki available.
What Padalecki and Collins are actually playing remains one of the most tightly guarded secrets of the final season. Their character names haven’t been released, and the trailer deliberately withholds context. Padalecki has said only that his character is ‘very excited to meet Soldier Boy’ and that he appears in episode five. Collins’ character appears to be in direct conflict with Soldier Boy, at least early on, though The Boys has a long history of shifting allegiances.
