Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost packed on the PDA during a celebratory moment at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

On Tuesday, May 20, Johansson, 40, and the Saturday Night Live star, 42, attended the world premiere of Johansson’s directorial debut, Eleanor the Great. The couple were photographed locking lips just before the screening for the film began, having traveled to France just days after Johansson hosted SNL’s season 50 finale.

Johansson and Jost, who are parents to 3-year-old son Cosmo, smiled at each other before and after their kiss at the screening, which appeared to go well for the first-time director. According to Variety, the movie received a five-minute standing ovation after the screening ended.

“It is really a dream come true to be here. When we were shooting the film, I turned to my partners and I said, ‘If I do my job right, my dream is to see [June Squibb] on the Croisette in Cannes,’ ” Johansson said of Eleanor the Great. (The movie stars Squibb, 95, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jessica Hecht.)

“And here we are. So it really is a dream come true,” Johansson added. “Thank you for having us, we are so honored to be here. You know, when you make a film that’s an independent film like this, no one’s doing it for the money — surprise, surprise. Everybody that came together for this film came together because they loved the story, they loved the script so much.”

Johansson and Jost started dating in 2017. They got engaged in May 2019 and tied the knot in October 2020. The couple shares son Cosmo, while Johansson is also a mom to daughter Rose Dorothy, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

During Johansson’s SNL hosting sting on May 17, the actress appeared on “Weekend Update” alongside her husband and Michael Che, to pay the co-anchor, 41, back for a joke he had Jost tell about his wife in December, during the pair’s famous joke swaps.

“Last time we did joke swaps, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes, comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef,” Che told Johansson, to which she sarcastically replied, “Yes, I remember that.”

“I was just lashing out because I’m jealous,” Che said, as he read from a card written by Jost. “I’ve never seen a human vagina. Notice I said human, because I once spent a summer on a farm.”

The Cannes Film Festival runs through May 24. Johansson next appears on screen in Wes Anderson’s new movie, The Phoenician Scheme, in theaters June 6, as well as in Jurassic World Rebirth, in theaters July 2.
