Russell Crowe’s WWII movie Nuremberg has been the talk of the town lately as the film continues to gain Oscar buzz, but just last year, he starred in a very different film that’s become a VOD sensation. Crowe teamed up with Luke and Liam Hemsworth for Land of Bad, the 2024 R-rated spy thriller following a team of soldiers on the ground who go on a dangerous mission with a drone pilot as their eyes in the sky. Land of Bad is currently streaming on Netflix in America, but overseas, the film has resurfaced in the VOD top 10 in several countries.

Land of Bad is much different than anything Crowe has done in his career. Now that he’s 61 years old, Crowe has become more content getting out of the trenches on a movie like Land of Bad, and letting youngsters like Luke and Liam Hemsworth do all the hardcore stunts. However, Land of Bad allows him to still be in on the action as the drone pilot, who has an incredibly important role in the film. The film earned scores of 67% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed only $7 million during an extremely limited theatrical release.

David Frigerio and William Eubank wrote the script for Land of Bad, and Eubank also directed the film. Four years before Land of Bad, Eubank directed Underwater, the psychological thriller starring Kristen Stewart and T.J. Miller. He’s also set to reunite with Russell Crowe on The Last Druid, another action movie that’s expected to be released next year but does not have an official release date.

Russell Crowe’s Next Big Movie Recently Suffered a Major Setback

Russell Crowe is attached to star in several intriguing projects, but few have as much anticipation behind them as the Highlander reboot. Led by Henry Cavill and backed by director Chad Stahelski, Highlander also stars Guardians of the Galaxy veterans Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista. The film was scheduled to begin production at the end of this month, but it was reported a few weeks ago that filming had been delayed after Cavill suffered an injury during training. Cavill took to his personal Instagram not long ago to confirm this. The film is now expected to begin production at the start of next year.
