What happened to Beyoncé?
2025 was a memorable year for Beyoncé. Finally, after 28 years, the singer lifted the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for the best country album of 2024 – Cowboy Carter. This was also a historic victory as Beyoncé became the first Black female artist in this century (and only after Lauryn Hill in 1999) to win this category. Beyoncé increased her total Grammy wins to 35, making her the artist with the most wins in history.

Beyoncé announced the start of her Cowboy Carter World Tour, scheduled to begin on May 28, 2025. Currently, the “Queen of Pop’s” team is focusing on promotion and ticket sales. However, as of now, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour is selling out at a rather slow pace. According to The Mix, Beyoncé has only sold out 3 out of 30 shows. Reports indicate that most of the unsold concerts have a large number of unsold tickets.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour is selling out at a slow pace, with only 3 out of 30 shows sold so far.
Beyoncé is having difficulty selling tickets in the UK. Earlier this month, The London Times published an article titled “She’s a global superstar — so why can’t Beyoncé sell out her UK tour?”. According to the article, Ticketmaster was preparing for an unprecedented “onslaught” when tickets went on sale.
The British aren’t particularly enthusiastic about the Cowboy Carter album, posing a challenge for Beyoncé as she transitions to country music. “Although I’m a Beyoncé fan, I personally don’t like Cowboy Carter as much as her other albums. So I decided not to buy a ticket,” one fan told The London Times.

Beyoncé’s ticket sales in the US aren’t much better either.
According to reports, only 3 shows in the Cowboy Carter Tour are sold out in France. The remaining 6 shows with unsold tickets are mostly in Los Angeles, USA – the global entertainment capital. With just over a month until the first Cowboy Carter Tour show in L.A. on April 28th, Beyoncé and her ticketing agency are still struggling.
Many Beyoncé fans express their dislike for the Cowboy Carter album. Despite being highly praised by critics and even winning a Grammy, this isn’t Beyoncé’s most explosive period. In terms of commercial success, Cowboy Carter has even been overshadowed by albums from emerging pop girls like Sabrina Carpenter.

A music industry official even issued a warning: “Sometimes you don’t retire. The audience will ‘retire’ you.”
A music industry official told News Nation that “Most of Beyoncé’s fans don’t like Cowboy Carter; they’re not impressed. They bought tickets to her Renaissance concert two years ago and spent a lot on Taylor Swift concerts… The market is currently stagnant.” Beyoncé’s ticket sales are indeed concerning, with another music industry official even warning, “Sometimes you don’t retire. The audience will ‘retire’ you.”

But the biggest reason Beyoncé struggled was the exorbitant pricing of this tour.
Audiences not loving the album and the volatile concert market all negatively impacted Beyoncé’s ticket sales. But the biggest reason she struggled was the excessively high pricing of this tour. Ticket prices ranged in the thousands of dollars, a huge sum for attending a concert. From the moment the prices were announced, fans were outraged.
“Beyoncé and Ticketmaster have driven me crazy. $950 for a decent seat before fees?”; “Beyoncé should be ashamed of these prices. My God, we were willing to pay a lot of money, but $1,000 or more for all the floor seats?”; “I paid $600 for my Renaissance ticket and got a seat right in front of the stage. Winning a Grammy made her delusional about ticket prices being this high?”, “I knew something was going on when I saw other concerts by terrible artists charging Beyoncé’s ticket prices. Because now Beyoncé’s ticket price isn’t Beyoncé’s ticket price anymore!”,… It’s not difficult to find a multitude of similar comments on social media.

With disastrously low ticket sales, many believe Beyoncé should reconsider pursuing country music if she doesn’t want her career to end prematurely.
Faced with widespread fan opposition, Beyoncé’s team has yet to offer a solution to improve ticket sales. People fear this tour will be a low point in the pop queen’s career. The disastrously low ticket sales have led many to believe Beyoncé should reconsider pursuing country music if she doesn’t want her career to end prematurely.
