Kid Rock has encountered numerous controversies throughout his music career, and one past festival debacle has now come back into focus as questions arise about his upcoming festival.

Back in 2018, the Detroit rocker was preparing to launch the “Greatest Show on Earth” arena tour – but he lacked authorization to use that name. Feld Entertainment, the long-standing owners of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which created its iconic tagline, filed a lawsuit against both Rock – whose real name is Robert Ritchie – and Live Nation for trademark infringement.

Whilst a judge determined that Feld didn’t immediately warrant a preliminary injunction, citing possible free expression rights, Rock eventually renamed the tour as the “American Rock ‘n’ Roll Tour” to sidestep further legal complications.

The case wrapped up with a favorable settlement, according to legal counsel, which brought the infringement lawsuit to a close.

The 2018 incident has resurfaced following reports that another date on the musician’s Rock the Country festival may be canceled due to disappointing ticket sales. The 55 year old is scheduled to headline the festival, which was meant to include seven performances across seven locations, featuring various country music stars and other performers.

Yet, the event has encountered numerous obstacles since its announcement, with acts such as Ludacris, Morgan Wade, Shinedown and Jelly Roll all withdrawing, and several dates being scrapped after planned lineups collapsed. Ticket sales have also proven problematic.

Now, another venue appears to be in jeopardy of being dropped from the festival, which has been labeled a “MAGA” event, with minimal tickets sold for the scheduled location. On Reddit, someone highlighted that The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, PA, had only moved 200 tickets for the June 20 performance.

According to Live Nation, the venue boasts an amphitheater with more than 6,600 seats, meaning just 3% of capacity had been purchased.

After the Reddit post revealed the poor ticket sales, many users quickly mocked the situation and expressed amusement, suggesting that fans had already had their fill of his music during the Turning Point USA Halftime Show.

“Seems like he’s reached a Turning Point,” one user quipped, whilst another commented, “Someone broke into my car and left 4 tickets to this show on my dashboard. Police are investigating this heinous crime.”

Another person questioned how often genuine Rock enthusiasts could realistically enjoy his music, commenting, “Even if you were a big kid rock fan (weird but this is hypothetical) how many times can you listen to cowboy and bawitaba before it gets old.”

Although the show hasn’t been formally cancelled, it’s no longer listed on Rock the Country’s official website lineup, suggesting it may have been discreetly removed.
