Thousands of social media users started a campaign for the NFL to replace Bad Bunny with Metallica at the Super Bowl halftime show.

It all started with a petition that, within a few days, gathered thousands of signatures. According to the organizers, the motive is simple: they believe that the Puerto Rican “does not represent the values of American football”, while the band of James Hetfield best embodies the energy and strength of the sport.

The issue divided opinions. While some fans defend the idea of a more “classic” show, others claim that Bad Bunny’s choice represents the diversity and evolution of the event.

As of now, the NFL has not responded to the request, and Bad Bunny is still confirmed as the Super Bowl halftime lead performer.

The Speaker of the House is not happy with the NFL’s pick of Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show.

“I didn’t even know who Bad Bunny was, but it sounds like a terrible decision, in my view,” U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson told a reporter, when asked for his thoughts on the decision.

Johnson offered up country music singer Lee Greenwood as a possible replacement. Greenwood, 82, is known for his patriotic anthem, “God Bless the U.S.A.,” which often plays at President Trump rallies.

“There are so many eyes on the Super Bowl — a lot of young, impressionable children — and I think, in my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that,” he said. “Not somebody like this.”

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is one of the most popular artists in the world. He ranks at the top of most streaming charts, alongside Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen.

But if the NFL for some reason changes its mind on Bad Bunny, Lee Greenwood has offered up to replace him.

Greenwood told TMZ Sports on Wednesday that he would be more than happy to perform at halftime of Super Bowl 60.

“Lee tells TMZ he’s right in step with what Speaker Johnson said yesterday … confirming he’d crush the Super Bowl gig, thanks to years of belting it out for NFL teams, especially at their Salute to Service games,” they reported.

“In fact, the 82-year-old’s such a hot ticket, he’s set to rock halftime for the Dallas Cowboys on MNF come November 3rd — and since football’s basically America’s favorite pastime, he says busting out the anthem or “God Bless the U.S.A.” at games is always a thrill.

“With Bad Bunny already locked for the halftime spotlight, Lee says maybe the NFL can still tap him to fire up the crowd pre-game!”

The NFL, meanwhile, is standing by its pick.

“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment,” says Jon Barker, SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.
