Actor Henry Cavill lost the role of spy 007 to actor Daniel Craig because of his body.
The candid comments he received when auditioning for the role of spy 007 made Henry Cavill feel very grateful, because for the first time in his life he understood that his body was “making it difficult” for his future acting career.

In a recent interview with a men’s magazine, British actor Henry Cavill revealed that his impressive weight loss journey that helped him transform from a “plump” actor to a “muscular” actor was motivated when he auditioned for the role of 007, where he received candid assessments from the casting director – Mr. Martin Campbell.
Back in 2005, when people were looking for an actor to play the role of James Bond in the film “Casino Royale”, Cavill was one of the final choices for the role, but the final decision was made to disappoint him, and the role was given to Daniel Craig.
Henry Cavill was motivated to lose weight seriously after the director in charge of casting, Mr. Martin Campbell, commented that he was “a bit plump”. At first, Henry Cavill was upset about not getting the role and having to receive unkind comments about his appearance.
But now, the Superman actor looks back and feels grateful for the candid, honest comments at the time, because before that, he had no idea about training and eating properly: “I could have prepared better for that audition, I still remember the casting director – Mr. Martin Campbell, he said: You look a bit chubby, Henry.
“Before that, I had no idea about training and eating properly. I was very happy that Mr. Martin said that directly to me, because I made positive adjustments to the reality that was just outlined for me, which helped me become better, more complete.”
In the interview, Henry Cavill also shared that he had always been teased about his weight since his school days: “Since I was a kid, I had a tendency to be overweight, I could just accept that I was the type of person and not change anything. In fact, that acceptance helped me get through my school years more easily, because my classmates used to tease me quite maliciously.”
Now, Henry Cavill is a “muscular” actor known for his role as Superman in films such as “Man Of Steel” (2013), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), or “Justice League” (2017).
Now, when playing muscular roles, Henry Cavill always wants his appearance to be in the best condition to serve the role, however, he does not think of himself as a “godfather” actor with an ideal body and appearance. He just feels proud that he has been able to successfully transform his image.
Now, Henry Cavill is a fitness enthusiast and feels more confident about himself, not only in his work but also in his love life.
