While acknowledging that Sunday’s alternative halftime show was prerecorded, Kid Rock shot down rumors that he had lip-synced a song.

In a video posted on X Tuesday morning (Feb. 10), the Michigan rap-rock-country star reacted to viewers who had noticed the audio and video in his performance weren’t quite lined up. Rock was joined by his longtime DJ, Detroit’s Freddie (Paradime) Beauregard, to explain.

“We’re here to address the fake-news media and all the trolls that are piling on trying to say that I was lip-syncing on the Turning Point USA halftime to ‘Bawitdaba,’” Rock began.

He noted he had seen an early cut of the performance and alerted the production team the audio-video synchronization was off. He suspects it’s because editors were unfamiliar with the song — and were also unaware that one of the voices they were hearing was Paradime, who handles many of the phrases in Rock’s verses.

In Tuesday’s video, the two performed an a cappella version of “Bawitdaba” to demonstrate.

“I know those guys had a difficult time getting that synced together,” Rock said. “I have nothing but good things to say not only about Turning Point but the production team that they work with on this and other events they’ve done. Top-notch, first class all the way. Nobody’s perfect or gets it right every time.”

Kid Rock pointed out that rumors and bad ideas snowball online — and even offered a defense of Super Bowl performer Bad Bunny in that regard.

Rock referenced an October TV appearance by the Puerto Rican star, where he told viewers they had “four months to learn Spanish” ahead of the Super Bowl. The remark drew heat from Bad Bunny’s critics.

“He was on ‘Saturday Night Live,’” Rock said. “I think he was joking.”

Kid Rock has made a name through the years as fiercely anti-lip-sync, most famously when he called out artists during the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
