Kid Rock is criticizing a joke made by Oscar host Conan O’Brien.

He called the jab “not a very good one.”

Kid Rock responded to the joke in which O’Brien targeted him during the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15.

“I should warn you, tonight could get political,” O’Brien told the audience. “And if that makes you uncomfortable, there’s an alternate Oscars being hosted by Kid Rock. It’s at the Dave & Buster’s down the street. Lotta tickets for that.”

O’Brien was poking fun at Turning Point USA’s decision to host its own “All-American Halftime Show” as an alternative to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performance on Feb. 8. The pre-taped event included performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

On Monday, Kid Rock took to social media to address O’Brien’s material while simultaneously promoting his upcoming tour.

“I love a good joke, even when I am the butt of it, unfortunately this was not a very good one,” the singer posted to X March 16. “Either way, if you want to see a REAL good show this spring / summer that celebrates America and 250 years of Freedom — make sure you buy your tickets from (ugh) Ticketmaster for my Freedom 250 tour — The Road To Nashville. There is a reason for this, TRUST ME!”

While the official halftime show featuring Bad Bunny averaged 128.2 million viewers between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. Eastern, the Turning Point USA broadcast peaked at 5 million viewers on YouTube, according to ESPN. Nielsen did not measure the YouTube figures for the alternate show, but the organization reported over 21 million views of the performance on its page through the following Tuesday.

The Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the Patriots eventually averaged 124.9 million viewers across all platforms, failing to break the all-time broadcast record set the previous year, according to ESPN. Despite falling short of the national record, the game became the most-watched program in the history of NBC.

Kid Rock did not provide further details on specific tour dates in his initial post but emphasized his focus on the upcoming summer schedule following the awards show critique. Total social media consumption of the official halftime show set a record of 4 billion views in the first 24 hours, an increase of 137% over the previous year, ESPN reported.
