In the years since Justice League’s release, Snyder has offered teases and tidbits of information about what his original vision was for the movie and fans of the director have been calling on Warner Bros. to release they Snyder cut. Those calls have finally been answered as Warner Bros. confirmed today that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will release on HBO Max in 2021. New details about the work that will need to be done to finish the cut have also been reported.
According to THR, Snyder has been reaching out to the Justice League cast in recent months to tell them they may need to return to provide additional work. The first star Snyder called was Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg. “He was like, ‘You’re kidding me, right?’” said Snyder. The THR report specifies that the actors may need to return to record additional dialogue for this version of Justice League. As of now and based on this report, it doesn’t appear the actors will need to film new scenes, but it’s unclear if that could change.

Aside from Fisher’s Cyborg, though, it’s unclear which of the other cast members will need to return. Superman actor Henry Cavill joined Snyder for the Vero livestream Q&A where the director announced Zack Snyder’s Justice League will release on HBO Max, so the duo have certainly been in contact. Batman actor Ben Affleck and Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot joined the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement in November 2019 in honor of the movie’s original theatrical release. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has also long been a proponent for the Snyder cut, and even saw a version last year. Rounding out the core six is Ezra Miller’s Flash. He recently reprised the character for The CW’s Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths.
It’s not yet known which of these stars, or supporting actors, will be returning, but considering the fan momentum that inspired Warner Bros. and HBO Max to release the Snyder cut, it’s likely they won’t mind returning to provide additional work. More information about who will return and what work needs to be done so Zack Snyder’s Justice League can be released will arrive in the coming months.
