Jess Glynne has revealed how Amy Winehouse’s death made her “terrified” of drugs.

The singer said she won’t be tempted down a dark path like troubled singer Amy, who died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011.

Speaking to The Sun the Hold My Hand star, who is nominated for three awards at next week’s Brits, said: “Amy was a massive influence on me – the biggest. It’s devastating because you look at where it did go wrong.

“I think really it’s about the people around you. I don’t think she had the right people who cared about her. And that’s why I’m so grateful for the people I have around me who care just about me as Jessica, not just as Jess Glynne.”

Jess is nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and Best British Single for ‘Holy My Hand’.

Speaking about her attitude towards illegal substances, she added: “I’m a hypochondriac so I’ve never been able to do drugs. I’m too terrified. My health and wellbeing are so important. Without my health and sanity I’m nothing.”

Jess added she “hardly goes out” and “doesn’t drink a lot”.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old has enforced a cape ban ahead of her performance at the ceremony in London next week, after Madonna fell over during last year’s show.

“I’m already really nervous. No capes,” she revealed during the nominations launch. “I would never wear a cape anyway.”
