Tough news for anyone waiting for Henry Cavill to pick up the sword. The Highlander reboot has been hit with a massive delay due to a shocking injury. Is this a devastating blow for the film, or a blessing in disguise that will make it even better? Let us know what you think.OMG you guys. Hold on to your kilts and your swords because we have some news that is a total gut punch for anyone waiting to see Henry Cavill become an immortal warrior. The massively anticipated Highlander reboot from John Wick mastermind Chad Stahelski has officially hit a major snag. And the reason is a complete and total bummer. Our leading man and real life Superman Henry Cavill has suffered a leg injury that is pushing the entire production schedule way way back. We are literally devastated.

Sources close to the production are spilling all the tea and it sounds like Henry sustained a pretty nasty leg injury during the intense pre-production training for the film. You know how Henry is he goes ALL IN for his roles. He becomes Geralt of Rivia he embodies Superman and he was deep in training to become the ultimate immortal Connor MacLeod. This kind of insane sword training and stunt work is no joke and unfortunately it seems our guy went a little too hard.

This isnt even the first time the action star has been sidelined for his craft. Do you remember that awful hamstring injury he suffered on the set of The Witcher? The man literally puts his body on the line for our entertainment. We are sending him all the positive vibes and a super speedy recovery.

So what does this major mishap mean for the movie we have all been waiting for? Well the cameras were supposed to start rolling later this year giving us hope for a 2025 release. But now insiders are confirming that the entire shoot has been pushed all the way to early 2026. Yes you read that right 2026. This is a massive shift for the Lionsgate project which was gearing up to be one of the biggest action fantasy movies on the calendar. A 2026 filming start means we probably wont see the finished product in theaters until 2027 at the absolute earliest. We need a moment to process this crushing blow.

If there is a silver lining in this cloudy news it is that this gives director Chad Stahelski even more time to prepare. And when the director of the entire John Wick franchise gets more prep time you know the result is going to be absolutely jaw dropping. Stahelski is a certified legend when it comes to mind blowing action choreography and intricate world building. He promised fans a Highlander reboot that would be a little more grounded a modern tragedy and we are SO here for that vision. This delay could give his creative team more time to perfect the epic sword fights and create the sprawling universe that the Highlander lore truly deserves. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise? Maybe?

Still this is tough news for fans who have been waiting for a proper Highlander reboot for decades. The original 1986 film is a total cult classic with an iconic soundtrack by Queen and the legendary tagline There can be only one. Henry Cavill felt like the absolute perfect casting choice to pick up the sword for a new generation. He has the chiseled look the undeniable charisma and the serious action movie chops to pull it off. Seeing him in this role was at the top of our must see movie list. Now we just have to wait and wait and wait.

Our main concern right now is of course Henry Cavill’s health and recovery. We hope he takes all the time he needs to heal fully. The man has been on an absolute roll lately with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Argylle keeping him beyond busy. He is one of the hardest working men in Hollywood and he deserves a moment to rest and get back to one hundred percent. We have no doubt he will come back stronger than ever and ready to deliver some serious immortal action when the time is right.

So there you have it. The Henry Cavill Highlander reboot is officially on hold until early 2026 due to an unfortunate leg injury. While we are totally gutted about the delay we are wishing Henry nothing but the best for a speedy and full recovery. We know that when he and Chad Stahelski finally bring this epic tale of immortals to the big screen it will be more than worth the wait.
