Be honest, if you were offered a life-changing $100 million to spend some time away from your family, you’d probably take it. I mean, I’m sure the family would encourage you to go for that kind of money.

But Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, evidentially sees family as the most important thing after he was offer the proposition of touring with fellow rap legends, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

50 Cent revealed to Big Boy TV that Eminem turned down the tour that would have been worth ‘collectively, over $100 million’ because he wanted to spend more time with his daughter, Hailie, and worried he wouldn’t see her for long periods of time if he had gone on a tour across the globe.

“You do not believe how much money we would’ve made,” 50 Cent said. “And Em was like — there was so many dates at the time the way they laid it out — that he was like, ‘I just don’t want to go on tour and come back and Hailie’s grown.’”

A true family man.

Despite turning down tour dates, Mathers’ rapping ability certainly hasn’t suffered – evident through a recent challenge he was tasked with on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Uber Eats put a tweet out saying: “There’s no word in English that rhymes with ‘silver,’” which lead to the Rock The Bells account saying: “@Eminem, you have 24 hours!”

Well, Eminem was never going to take such a challenge likely as he responded just over 24 hours later with a savage response.

Mathers wrote: “Silver pilfer kill fer Gilbert’s still hurts steel shirts Bill Burr milf word off kilter no filter chill brrrr feel burn still slur will stir Trent dilfer Val kilmer Still third shield her he’ll squirt Steven Spielberg Lil twerp Wilshire She’ll purr Kill birds milk curd feel worth Real nerd Stans documentary I liked your film sir.”

“This should have like a million likes,” one person penned in the comments, while a second added: “LMAOOOOOOO you’re a genius.”

Fans of Eminem will certainly be pleased to know the rapper is releasing a new album in the near future – with 50 Cent already having a sneak peak at what he is working on.

“He sent me a record now, he working now,” Curtin Jackson told Los Angeles radio station Real 92.3. “He got some things man. Still the highest-selling rap artist in the world. We’re doing it now.”

As if the footage shared by Dr Dre of Eminem rapping at lightening-fast speed wasn’t impressive enough, the record producer – full name Andre Romell Young – revealed it took Slim Shady no time at all to create one of his biggest hits.

As part of Netflix’s four-part documentary The Defiant Ones looking into Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre and their legendary impact on the music scene, Eminem reflected on Dre as being one of the ‘biggest influencers ever in life’.

And Dre then recalled the first time he and Eminem worked together in the studio, the ‘Houdini’ rapper walking in dressed in a ‘bright yellow f**king sweatsuit’.

Dre continued: “I went and I put some samples together, did a couple of things in the drum machine, and I invited him over.

“I was like, ‘Man, listen. I put this sample together. Tell me if you like it’. And I hit the drum machine.”

And within ‘maybe two or three seconds’ Dre says Eminem ‘just went: “Hi! My name is…my name is…”‘

Dr Dre added: “That’s what happened our first day in the first few minutes of us being in the studio.”

And a hit was born.

The former NWA member signed Eminem up to Aftermath Entertainment, and produced his first record, The Slim Shady LP.

Since then, Dr Dre and Eminem have gone on to work on a whole host of tracks together, including ‘Forgot About Dre’, ‘Guilty Conscience’, ‘I Need A Doctor’, and ‘Say What You Say’.

Since their rise to the top, Dr Dre admitted before he met Eminem face to face, he had no clue the rapper was white.

Speaking at Eminem’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2022, Dr Dre recalled: “Over 20 years ago, Jimmy Lovine played a demo tape for me from a guy who called himself Eminem.

“The first thing I said when I heard it was, ‘What the f**k did he just say?’ I loved it so much, I couldn’t stop listening to it.

“A few days later, Jimmy called me and said, ‘Hey Dre, you know that’s a white guy, right?’ That completely f**ked me up… it didn’t even cross my mind.”

He continued: “Each of us was exactly what the other one needed – and I was willing to bet my entire career on it.”

I think it’s fair to say Dr Dre’s bet most definitely paid off.

But it seems the real Slim Shady is just as bombastic when he is messaging his friends, according to 50 Cent.

The pair have long been close friends, with 50 Cent often crediting the rapper and producer Dr Dre as helping to propel his career forwards.

But despite being massive stars, it seems Eminem is just like me for real. He sends the weirdest and strangest messages out of context, and seems to do it for the love of the game.

The image of massive superstars sending each other daft messages sounds very wholesome, doesn’t it?

Speaking in a video posted from Thisis50 on YouTube, 50 Cent said: “To this day, you know what’s ill about Em, he hits me randomly.”

He revealed: “He texted me and he was like, ‘When you gone fly me a private so I can land on that d*ck?’ What the f*ck is wrong with you?’”

For those who don’t know, the text was a reference to 50 Cent’s appearance on The Woo by Pop Smoke, where he is quoting a partner’s text to him.

That’s certainly not something you’d expect!

50 Cent went to describe how Eminem’s spontaneous texts often made his day.

He said: “But he’ll stop doing what he’s doing to do that. That sh*t makes my day on a whole other level.

At a concert at his childhood hometown of Detroit, Eminem called 50 Cent ‘one of the best friends I’ve ever known’.

Speaking to the crowd, the iconic rapper said: “Detroit, make some noise for one of the best friends I’ve ever known: 50 Cent. And also, make some noise for hip-hop’s 50th birthday, y’all.”

And it’s clear that 50 Cent returns the friendship.

In an interview with XXL Magazine, he said: “So when I’m doing 13 million records on my first album, I have the Marshall Mathers LP to look at that’s doing 23 million records.

“Em, I put him next to my grandmother, and I’ma tell you why. He was always a place where I could go and just talk to him, and know that he has my best interest at heart.”

If you’re a music fan, you have likely heard Eminem/Slim Shady/Marshal Mathers/B-rabbit’s name mentioned in conversations regarding the best rappers of all time – as he has been making waves for decades.

And as you may have guessed, he has racked up a whole lot of fans across the globe, who have been a big part of making the Detroit rapper the global superstar that he is now.

But before he was known as a legend for taking jabs at just about everyone and having very abrasive lyrics, the rapper still had to make a name for himself.

Before Spotify and Apple Music, in the early 2000s, the most common way to get yourself known was going through the MTV cable channel, and Eminem has insisted that one song that got plenty of play on the channel is one of the reasons he became a superstar.

Speaking in his new documentary, STANS, which arrives in theatres today, August 7, the rapper explained that this song changed his life overnight and helped propel him to new heights.

That song was the hilariously wild My Name Is, released in 1999 as part of his second studio album, The Slim Shady LP.

Speaking about fame and his meteoric rise in popularity, Eminem was asked whether it ever felt ‘normal’.

He replied: “Well, none of this is normal, none of it is normal.

“Once the Hi, my name is, video… once MTV accepted that and played it was like a f****** switch went off overnight.

“All of a sudden I woke up the next day from that and my entire life was changed forever.”

While Eminem credits this hit as helping put him on the map, there are songs that he has admitted to having regrets about.

Even for the rapper, one particular song was particularly brutal as it took multiple digs at his mother, Debbie Mathers – someone Eminem has long admitted to having had a complicated relationship with.

The song is, of course, Cleaning Out My Closet, which features on Eminem’s 2002 album, The Eminem Show.

In the song, he accuses his mom of constant mistreatment during his childhood, as well as misusing prescription drugs.

He also insisted she would never meet his daughter, and he wished she would burn in hell. Yikes.

However, a few years later, in 2014, Eminem released an apology track Headlights and made it clear he was retiring the 2002 hit.

In the apology track, he rapped: “I’m sorry mama for ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet,’ at the time I was angry.

“Rightfully, maybe so, never meant that far to take it though.

“Now I know it’s not your fault and I’m not making jokes.

“That song I no longer pay at shows, and I cringe every time it’s on the radio.”

Upon hearing the news of Dre’s health complications, all animosity was seemingly squashed and put behind the pair.

Coming up in the music scene around the same time, the two American rappers were no strangers to a little bit of feuding, however, their beef supposedly began in 2000.

It was reported that tensions grew after Snoop wanted something in return after appearing on Eminem’s album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.

Speaking on Paul Pod – the SiriusXM show hosted by Eminem’s longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg – the 49-year-old outlined further details surrounding the situation.

“I think that there was a miscommunication at the time in regards to him being on my album,

“I think he had wanted to do something with me, and maybe gave you [Rosenberg] the idea… ” he explained.

When Eminem’s manager had wanted further information about the song, the ‘The Real Slim Shady’ rapper explained: “The way that he took it was…that I don’t f*** with him.”

In 2020, Snoop, 50, took it one step further when he disagreed on Eminem’s status as being one of the 10 greatest rappers of all time.

Speaking to The Breakfast Club back in 2020, Snoop dubbed Dre as the ‘the dopest producer in hip-hop’ before citing his protege Eminem as a testament to his talent.

“Eminem! ‘The Great White Hope’. White rappers had zero respect in rap. Let’s keep that one thou-wow,” Snoop said.

“[Dre] has probably put Eminem in the position where he would be considered one of the top 10 rappers ever.

“I don’t think so, but the game feels like that he’s top 10 lyricists and all that that comes with it. That’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre. and Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find,” the ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ rapper revealed. When Eminem called him ‘disrespectful’ in an interview, Snoop hit back, dubbing his comments ‘soft a** s***’.

The ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper then fired back on his track ‘Zeus’ which appeared on the deluxe edition of his eleventh studio album Music To Be Murdered By.

His lyrics read: “Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / Meh, not really / I had dog backwards.”

However, everything changed when things went south for the pair’s mutual friend.

The pair have since made up and have made many public appearances together.

Upon getting light of the news that Dre, 57, was hospitalised due a brain aneurysm as ICU doctors prepared for his death last January – the pair were prompted to drop their beef.

“When that thing happened with Dre, we were like, ‘Bro, this is stupid,’” Eminem recounted.

He continued: “This is stupid as hell to be feuding right now.”
