Elon Musk has finally reacted to Billie Eilish‘s expletive-filled takedown by attempting to diss the Grammy winner’s intelligence. Responding on X to a post about Eilish’s original criticism, Musk replied: “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.”
Eilish slammed Musk earlier this month as a “fucking pathetic pussy bitch coward” for not giving his money away toward humanitarian relief efforts. The singer’s statement was a reaction to a photo carousel posted on Instagram by the activist group My Voice, My Choice that broke down the many ways Musk could use chunks of his money to help the world as he approaches the benchmark of becoming the world’s first trillionaire. Examples included spending $40 billion a year to end world hunger by 2030 and paying around $2 billion a year to bring down the endangered species status of 10,433 animals.
It’s becoming a regular occurrence for Eilish to call out extreme wealth in the U.S. She previously made headlines while giving an acceptance speech at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards, in which she criticized billionaires and urged them to give their money away. Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg was in attendance at the ceremony.

“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than kind of ever, especially in our country,” Eilish told the room. “Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”
Musk’s diss was posted a few hours before his X social media platform suffered widespread outages due to technical issues at cybersecurity services provider Cloudflare. The company noted it received “a spike in unusual traffic” Tuesday morning. Other services affected by the Cloudflare problems included OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Sora, Letterboxd, Shopify, Uber, Canva, Grindr and Riot Games’ League of Legends.
