Jasmine Crockett blasted for labelling Donald Trump an “enemy” to the United States | Sky News Australia

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, on Wednesday lamented the outcome of the presidential election, suggesting racism was responsible for the victory of President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump will become the 47th president of the United States, according to a projection by the Associated Press. His victory, secured in part thanks to wins in several swing states, coincided with a Republican takeover of the Senate.

Rep. Crockett, who won reelection to the House Tuesday, was an outspoken critic of Trump throughout his election campaign. She was a co-sponsor of the “DISGRACED Former Protectees Act,” which sought to remove Secret Service protection for people convicted of certain felonies.

The Texas Democrat took to X to share her stance on the presidential election by citing the words of the late Rep. Shirley Chisholm, D-N.Y., whose “wisdom still rings true.” Rep. Chisholm in 1969 was the country’s first Black woman elected to Congress.

A photo included in the post attributes the quote “of the two handicaps, being Black is much less of a drawback than being female” to Rep. Chisholm.

“I am proud of VP @KamalaHarris,” Rep. Crockett said. “But as I said many times on the trail, this election was more about us and what it is that we wanted for our future and well PROJECT 2025 is loading.”

“I’m praying we hold the House so we can fend off some of this but him having the White House and the Senate means more F—ED UP lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court,” she added.

Rep. Crockett went viral earlier this year for a feud with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. The two exchanged jabs during a meeting of the House Oversight Committee in May, including Rep. Crockett’s characterization of the Republican as a “bleach-blonde, bad-built butch body.” The remarks later spurred a line of merchandise.
