Chris Daughtry recently shared his thoughts on Creed’s successful comeback tour, emphasizing how the band’s return demonstrates rock music’s resurgence. His comments were made during an interview with Mistress Carrie.
The discussion began when Carrie acknowledged Daughtry’s band stepping up to fill additional tour dates after Three Doors Down had to leave the tour due to Brad Arnold’s health issues.

“Yeah. We’re we’re sending him all the all the positive vibes and all the love, man. He’s been a friend for a long time, and we thank a lot of those guys,” Daughtry said. “So many people would have lost their houses if they bet them a few years ago that Creed was going to come back and be arguably bigger than they were before. And every person that I have talked to that saw one of those shows was like, ‘It was better than I even thought it was going to be.’”
When asked about his experience on the tour, Daughtry elaborated on what he witnessed regarding rock music’s current state.
“It was crazy. It was another reminder that rock is back,” he continued. “Every night Scott would say like, ‘How many out there’s seen Creed before, or for how many is this their first time seeing Creed?’ And it was like a good 80% of the crowd. That’s crazy, you know, that this is their first time seeing this band after being gone for 10 plus years. and a lot of them weren’t even alive when they first came out.”
Daughtry expressed optimism about the implications for veteran rock bands like his own.
“That’s encouraging especially for bands like us that have been doing it for almost 20 years, and to see that people are still wanting to come out to see rock bands, and see real, live music, it’s exciting,” he said. “It was exciting to be a part of it and to share the stage with them, and we get to do it again with Alterbridge in January and February. So, yeah, we love those guys.”
Daughtry’s observations about rock music’s resurgence are backed by concrete evidence from the tour’s remarkable success.

Blabbermouth reported that the “Summer of ’99” tour featuring Creed, Daughtry, 3 Doors Down, Big Wreck, and Mammoth WVH sold over 800,000 tickets across North America. The tour also broke venue records in multiple markets. This commercial success validates Daughtry’s claim that rock music has found its audience again.
The tour’s impact extends beyond just nostalgia, as it demonstrates the enduring appeal of rock music to new generations. The lineup represents different eras of rock, with Creed’s post-grunge sound from the late 1990s and early 2000s alongside newer acts. This creates a bridge between rock’s past and present.
Daughtry’s own career trajectory reflects this rock revival. The official Daughtry tour website revealed that the band has an extensive 2025 tour schedule that includes co-headlining dates with Seether. The schedule also features appearances at major festivals like Ottawa Bluesfest and Boots and Hearts Music Festival. This busy schedule indicates strong demand for established rock acts.
The band is also showcasing new material during these performances. Daughtry’s official website confirmed they are featuring songs from their new EP “Shock to the System: Part One,” which includes singles like “The Dam.” This demonstrates that veteran rock bands are not just relying on past hits but continuing to create new music.
The bands are scheduled to tour together again with Alter Bridge in early 2025. This further cements the collaborative spirit that Daughtry believes is helping to revitalize the rock scene.
