Well, Alan Jackson fans, y’all might want to take a seat before reading this. During the final stop of his most recent tour, the 66-year-old country singer dropped some seriously heartbreaking news. Jackson is officially bidding farewell to life on the road.
While performing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 17, Jackson revealed that he’s stepping away from road shows for good. Though bittersweet, the news didn’t come as a complete shock since the press release for the singer’s 2025 tour indicated that this would be “the last time he’ll ever perform his more-than-30 years of hits.” Still, hearing the news directly from Jackson sent a shockwave through country music fans.

In a moving Instagram post from his final tour stop, Jackson thanked fans for helping him live out his dreams and supporting his long career. “This is the last one out on the road for me and I’m so blessed. Thank you all so much for supporting my music. I’m living the American dream for sure,” he told the adoring crowd.
Unsurprisingly, the comment section of Jackson’s farewell post was overflowing with supportive and emotional messages. “This made me cry. Alan’s been my favorite since I was a little girl ❤️,” wrote one person. “So glad I was there. It was such an emotional show 🥹❤️” and “WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF 💕💕💕,” added others.
After 30 years of touring, Jackson assured fans that he plans to go out with a bang. “Y’all gonna make me tear up out here. But I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we’re planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime,” the singer revealed. “It just felt like I had to end it all where it all started. And that’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City.”
Fans believe the singer’s retirement from the road is largely due to health concerns and a desire to spend more time with family. Back in 2021, Jackson revealed his diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease during an interview on the TODAY show with Jenna Hager. Although he first learned of his condition more than a decade earlier, he chose to open up about it publicly only recently. “I have this neuropathy and neurological disease,” the singer said. “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy. There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years.”
The condition can cause nerve damage, leading to muscle contractions, a loss of sensation, and cause difficulty to walk, according to the Mayo Clinic.
While the news is certainly sad, fans everywhere are grateful for Jackson’s decades of music and his legacy will continue to resonate for years to come.
