Bryan Cranston rumored to join Dexter Resurrection season 2 as major villain role
Bryan Cranston is rumored to appear in Dexter Resurrection season 2.
Rumors are circulating about Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston possibly joining Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, sparking excitement among fans of both Breaking Bad and Dexter. According to a report by FandomWire, speculation began after an Instagram post suggested Cranston may be involved in the revival series. Many believe he could portray the long-teased serial killer introduced in the show’s first season.
Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 introduced audiences to the “New York Ripper,” a serial killer connected to over 20 murders but never shown on screen. The character, known only as Don Framt, is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming season. Given Cranston’s critically acclaimed performance as Walter White in Breaking Bad, fans are convinced he would be a strong fit for the role of the mysterious antagonist.
The Paramount+ revival has already attracted notable talent, including Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, and guest stars such as Neil Patrick Harris and Krysten Ritter. Bringing in Cranston would add further star power and continue the show’s trend of high-profile casting.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips recently confirmed to the Dissecting Dexter podcast that a writers’ room will open on October 6, 2025, with production set for spring 2026. Phillips also revealed that he and series lead Michael C. Hall are contracted for at least three seasons. The upcoming season will reportedly feature episodic villains alongside a central “big bad,” which fans suspect could be Cranston.
While Paramount has not officially commented on the casting rumors, the possibility of Cranston joining Dexter: Resurrection has already fueled widespread online discussion. Whether he takes on the role of Don Framt or another major character, his involvement would mark a significant crossover moment between two of television’s most acclaimed dramas.
