Andrew Garfield has officially shut down hopes for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, confirming in a recent GQ interview that the long-rumored sequel “isn’t happening — and probably never will.”
“It’s not happening, and I don’t believe it ever will. But sweet of you to want it to happen,” Garfield said with a smile.
A heartbreaking end to the dream of seeing his Spider-Man swing through one last time
Even though we have three official Spider-Men that’s canon in the MCU, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is for sure one of the most iconic ones, making his mark as a beloved actor by comic book fans around the world. We’ve seen him manage to make it with two movies and a worthy cameo as the multiverse collided in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s why people are waiting for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
Unfortunately, his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home might be the last time we’ll ever see him don Peter Parker’s secret identity. From a possible cameo or role in any Avengers film to a direct sequel to a lot of fans’ favorite Spider-Man film, it seems like we won’t be seeing his version of Spider-Man, and this is confirmed by Andrew Garfield himself.
Andrew Garfield Answers Questions Online
In a YouTube video from the channel GQ, Andrew Garfield was tasked with answering questions related to his career online from various websites, ranging from Quora and Reddit to YouTube and TikTok. In the video, Andrew saw a comment in TikTok asking, “Who tf said tasm 3 was coming out??? Pls, I need sources.” To which Andrew Garfield replied, “It’s not happening and I don’t believe it ever will, but sweet of you to want it to happen.” Confirming that The Amazing Spider-Man project has hit the gutters.
In addition, we also heard from Andrew himself that he won’t be there for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. When he saw a question regarding whether he would be there, he simply answered with, “No. Unequivocally, fucking no.” And that was a solid statement coming from him.
As time goes by, at the end of the day, actors are just like anyone else, human. They grow out of what was, and will have to move on, one way or another. Andrew Garfield was, without question, a great Spider-Man actor, but he is also just a great actor in general, and greatness shouldn’t be boxed in just one role. With all that Andrew is doing now, we can all say that he is being greatly responsible with his great power.
