Andrew Garfield has officially shut down hopes for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, confirming in a recent GQ interview that the long-rumored sequel “isn’t happening — and probably never will.”

“It’s not happening, and I don’t believe it ever will. But sweet of you to want it to happen,” Garfield said with a smile.

We’ve seen him manage to make it with two movies and a worthy cameo as the multiverse collided in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s why people are waiting for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Unfortunately, his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home might be the last time we’ll ever see him don Peter Parker’s secret identity. From a possible cameo or role in any Avengers film to a direct sequel to a lot of fans’ favorite Spider-Man film, it seems like we won’t be seeing his version of Spider-Man, and this is confirmed by Andrew Garfield himself.

In a YouTube video from the channel GQ, Andrew Garfield was tasked with answering questions related to his career online from various websites, ranging from Quora and Reddit to YouTube and TikTok. In the video, Andrew saw a comment in TikTok asking, “Who tf said tasm 3 was coming out??? Pls, I need sources.” To which Andrew Garfield replied, “It’s not happening and I don’t believe it ever will, but sweet of you to want it to happen.” Confirming that The Amazing Spider-Man project has hit the gutters.

In addition, we also heard from Andrew himself that he won’t be there for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. When he saw a question regarding whether he would be there, he simply answered with, “No. Unequivocally, fucking no.” And that was a solid statement coming from him.

As time goes by, at the end of the day, actors are just like anyone else, human. They grow out of what was, and will have to move on, one way or another. Andrew Garfield was, without question, a great Spider-Man actor, but he is also just a great actor in general, and greatness shouldn’t be boxed in just one role.
