Amy Winehouse‘s goddaughter Dionne Bromfield has hit out at being left out of the tribute to the late singer at Saturday’s BRIT Awards.
Record producer Mark Ronson paid homage to the later singer, who died in 2011, playing a rendition of Back to Black, the song they worked on together, and by sharing a clip of Amy talking.
But Amy’s goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield, 30, has now hit out at the tribute as she expressed her anger at not being included.
Dionne said the tribute was ‘another reminder of what I’ve been dealing with for many years’ as she claimed people in the music industry had been trying to put a stop to her career.
‘To see so many of the people she loved musically included while I wasn’t felt like an insult not just to me, but more importantly to Amy and her legacy,’ she said.
In the days following Saturday’s tribute to Amy, Dionne has shared several cryptic posts, including replying to a fan who insisted she ‘should be most remembered in any mention of Amy’. Dionne replied: ‘You would think! It definitely was NOT an oversight…’

She also reposted a fan saying she should have been enlisted to sing the lead on Back To Black.
The post reshared by Dionne read: ‘I feel like the #BRITs have missed an opportunity to have Dionne Bromfield pay tribute to her godmother, and sing the lead on the Amy Winehouse tribute part of Mark Ronson‘s set.’
Addressing the comments, Dionne, who was signed by Amy’s Lioness Records label, shared a statement with the caption: ‘#My thoughts regarding #TheBrits /Amy and my previous tweets x.’
She said: ‘I want to be clear, this was never about me being on stage for the sake of being seen or “the look”. This is much deeper than that.
‘Since Amy’s passing, I’ve spent years of specific people within the industry and surrounding it, making it incredibly difficult for me to move forward and progress in my career.
‘Amy championed me musically in ways that didn’t always align with others around her, and after she passed, that was made clear, opportunities for me were blocked and doors were deliberately closed.’
She added: ‘Last night at The BRITs wasn’t about one moment, it was another reminder of what I’ve been dealing with for many years.
‘To see so many of the people she loved musically included while I wasn’t felt like an insult not just to me, but more importantly to Amy and her legacy.
‘I’m not one to air my dirty laundry, but there’s only so much someone can take and sometimes things need to be called out.’

Producer Mark paid an emotional tribute to Amy as he collected the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at the BRIT Awards.
The record producer, 50, was recognised at Saturday’s ceremony in Manchester and recalled how this week marks 20 years since he met the late musician.
The pair wrote the iconic hit Back to Black together on the ‘same day’ – a moment that ‘changed his life forever’.
Mark said: ‘It means so much to me to get this award.’
The musician then thanked those who have collaborated with through the years – including Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Dua Lipa – and says that the music he made with Amy provided him with the platform to go on and work with them all.
He said: ‘The music I made with Amy is the reason any of them know who I am anyway, so that’s why I will also treasure her voice, her talent, our bond, all of it.’
After receiving his award from Skepta, Mark performed Ooh Wee on stage with Ghostface Killah before again paying homage to Amy with a rendition of Back to Black.
It included a clip of the late star talking about Mark – and Valerie alongside Amy’s band The Dap-Kings.
This was followed by a performance of Uptown Funk before Dua Lipa made a surprise appearance to sing Dance The Night from the Barbie soundtrack and the collaboration Electricity.
