Several talent agents are negotiating contracts to sign “actress” Tilly Norward
But Norward is not a real person, but an entity created by the artificial intelligence talent study Xicoia
If confirmed, she would be one of the first AI-generated actresses to get talent agency representation, working with real-life stars

AI Actress Tilly Norwood Nears First-Ever Talent Agency Deal

a hyperrealistic AI-generated performer, could soon make history as the first artificial “actress” to be signed by a Hollywood talent agency. Created by actor and technologist Eline van der Velden, Norwood is already attracting strong interest from multiple agents, sparking urgent debate about the entertainment industry’s future. The move comes less than two years after Hollywood strikes over AI, reigniting fears of digital performers displacing human talent.

AI Creation Gains Attention

Tilly Norwood was designed by Van der Velden through her company Xicoia, promoted as a “castable, directable, and available on demand actress.” Van der Velden has described her venture as an “AI talent studio” with ambitions to manage entire rosters of digital stars. Interest in Norwood has escalated quickly, with reports comparing the buzz to a movie distribution bidding war.

Industry Quietly Embracing AI

At the Zurich Summit, Van der Velden and Verena Puhm of Luma AI’s Studio Dream Lab LA revealed that studios are already moving toward AI adoption. “We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, ‘No, this is nothing. It’s not going to happen.’ Then, by May, people were like, ‘We need to do something with you guys,’” Van der Velden explained. Puhm added that although studios appear hesitant publicly, many are already developing AI strategies behind the scenes.

Rising Interest From Agencies

Van der Velden has hinted that a major announcement is imminent. “When we first launched Tilly, people were like, ‘What’s that?’, and now we’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months,” she said. This potential signing could mark the first time a fully AI-generated performer is represented in the same way as human actors.

Fallout for Human Actors

The development has reignited concerns from recent strikes where unions warned about AI threatening jobs. If Norwood secures representation, she may be seen as the beginning of a wave of AI “actors” who can work around the clock without demanding trailers, coordinators, or higher salaries. Industry watchers warn such a shift could dramatically alter casting, production, and contract negotiations.

Creative Innovation or Threat

Supporters argue that AI performers bring innovative opportunities for storytelling and cost savings. Critics, however, see them as existential risks to human creativity and livelihoods. As Puhm noted, “They need that influx of new creatives, and new creative technologists to come in and actually show them how it’s done.” The statement reflects the divide between traditional filmmaking and the emerging digital frontier.

Future of the Entertainment Industry

Just two years ago, Hollywood was paralyzed by concerns over AI’s potential to reshape the industry. Now, with Tilly Norwood close to signing with a major agency, the issue is no longer hypothetical. Observers predict widespread debate and possible protests once her representation becomes official, marking what many believe could be a turning point in Hollywood’s history.
